After a few days of consideration, Maya ultimately decided to start taking antidepressants, just wanting to try something to help take away the never ending sadness that lays over her.
"I'm so proud of you," Carina whispers, placing a kiss to the top of Maya's head, handing her a cup of tea once she finishes her latest therapy session.
Maya tossed the small box of pills on the kitchen counter, raising the cup of warm liquid to her mouth, relishing in the taste.
"I start tonight. One pill every night," Maya states with a sigh as Carina pulls her into a hug, careful to not cause Maya to spill her tea.
"I know you're nervous and making this decision took a lot of courage, but I promise that this is a good thing. You aren't broken and nothing is wrong with you, you just need a pill to help stabilize a chemical imbalance in your brain and that's okay," Carina reassures, repeating the similar sentiment that she's been telling her wife over the last few days, knowing how guilty she feels over this.
"Thank you," Maya sighs, setting her cup down on the counter so she can fully wrap her arms around Carina's body, burying her face into the crook of her neck. "I'm sorry i'm such a mess."
"Not a mess," Carina shakes her head. "You're healing. We both are."
Maya simply nods in agreement as she pulls away from Carina's embrace, picking the warm cup back up and taking another sip.
"Now," Carina starts, continuing with her previous action of cleaning up the kitchen. "Do you want to get an early night? Maybe take a bath and your medicine, then go to bed?"
"Okay," Maya replies, her plan sounding good to her, her therapy sessions always completely wiping her out.
"Come on," Carina beckons with her pointer finger as she saunters down the hallway towards their bedroom. "And bring your tea!" She shouts, disappearing around the corner.
Maya laughs, playfully shaking her head, but following her wife anyway, listening to her request of bringing her beverage that Carina so kindly prepared for her.
Trailing behind and towards the bathroom, Maya's jaw drops at the setup Carina must've put together while she was at her therapy session.
The bath was already filled up, red and pink rose petals scattered across the floor, because Carina somehow always has rose petals with her, and a few mini candles placed upon the rim of the tub.
"Wow," Maya gawks, causing Carina to skip over in delight, pulling her into a hug with so much force that Maya sways a little, making sure they don't fall over. "What's this for?"
"No reason," Carina smirks, kissing Maya's nose. "Just wanted to pamper my wife."
"Thank you," Maya says in awe as Carina pulls back, taking her hand and leading them further into the bathroom. "Carina, this is...amazing."
With practically spending their lives at the hospital recently, romantic gestures were few and far in between that they were starting to feel starved. But now that they are almost fully recovered, Carina decided that they needed a little romance.
It's what they deserve.
"Can I?" Maya asks, gripping the bottom of Carina's white shirt, leading the brunette to nod, paired with a small smirk. She raises her arms, allowing Maya to pull the clothing over her head.
Carina takes a step back, pulling down her pants, along with her underwear, causing Maya to quickly look away, a pink hue coating her cheeks.
Giggling, Carina takes a step forward, placing a finger under her chin to turn her head so that's she's facing her again. "It's okay to look."
