Chapter 18 | What More Do You Want?
A week after.
Our next meeting place with the Hokage was a completely sealed room within the Torture and Intelligence Department. As I'd requested last time, no one in there, except for the Hokage and the current head of the Yamanaka clan—who was already privy to all sorts of intelligence important to Konoha—were present to hear my information. Of course, both Jiraiya and I were also there.
We sat at a table, with Hiruzen and the Yamanaka head across from Jiraiya and I. Other than the table and chairs, the room was a blanket of white, save for the paper seals that ornamented the walls.
While I'd revealed to Jiraiya a few things to earn his trust, I still hadn't gotten into the core of the matter: the presence of Uchiha Madara and Zetsu. That's why I thought he, too, had to sit in this meeting.
Hiruzen eyed me seriously, awaiting my words.
To be honest, I was surprised that he believed me. Sure, Jiraiya was his student and one of the most trustworthy people within his circle, but that shouldn't stop him from forming doubts. I wondered if there was something...or someone who pushed him to accept my words as the truth.
Regardless of what it was, it was fortunate that Hiruzen ultimately decided to lend me his ears.
"Well, first off," I took out a book from the bag I was carrying and slid it across the table to Hiruzen. "This has all the info you need. I did my best to write down whatever I could remember. I know it's a bit dangerous to have physical evidence of our conversation today, but the information is lengthy, and I thought it should be recorded so it's easier to remember."
"I see..." Hiruzen nodded his head as he cautiously took hold of the book.
"Now...where should I start?" I bit my lip anxiously before starting off with an explanation to my identity, "I guess I should tell you guys a bit about myself—I'm...from another world."
"Another world?" Hiruzen blinked.
"Yes. A dimension or world different from this one that you all live in."
"Wait, how can we believe—"
"No...let her speak," Hiruzen cut off the Yamanaka, urging me to continue speaking. I nodded my head.
"In the world I come from, I was able to...gain access about the future of this world's fate," I told them. "If you expected this world to be full of war and suffering...you would be right."
Hiruzen's face darkened.
"However...because I know a bit of what happens in the future, I'm here to tell you about it and possibly find a less damaging resolution to this world's fate."
"What...exactly are you, then?" The Yamanaka questioned, still baffled over my revelation as an otherworldly being. "And what did you mean by 'gain access'? How did you simply 'gain access' to how this world will be in the future?"
"Unfortunately, I...don't think I can reveal that," was my stern answer. "Unless you want to question everything that you've ever known, I suggest you let me keep it secret."
"W-What?"
"Just listen for now, Inoki-san," Jiraiya crossed his arms as he told the blond-haired man that. "I promise it's valuable info."
