Vance has been working downtown since he was sixteen, he likes when places are noisy and busy. He didn't have to think about a whole bunch of shit, plus, most people don't like to be in the center of noise so they never stayed for very long. So most of the time, he was able to just listen to music on his mom's old walkman until people came to check out. And half the time it took them at least a fucking hour to look. He bounced around from place to place until about three years ago when he started working at Thunderclap Records. Vance thinks it's kind've fucking stupid that they kept records in the title even though it's only a fraction of what they sell now. It started out as a record shop in the seventies but now it has CDs, instruments, and radios, so pretty much just a shitload of music-related things.

About six months into working there is when Robin started working there. At first, they butted heads, they both had certain ways of doing things and god be damned if they didn't do it their way. Though after a while and an absolute truckload of scoldings. They bonded over a love for rock music and horror movies, and partially for the fact that they both used to get into fights pretty damn often. They've actually been sharing an apartment with two of their other friends, Billy and Griffin for about a year now.

They actually all met in a hospital waiting room about two years back. Why were they all there you ask? Well, Vance got pissed off one day for some reason he didn't even remember and he punched a brick wall. Turns out, he punched it hard enough to break his fucking hand. He didn't know it was broken at first and even argued with Robin about going to the ER to deal with it. Saying that he was fine. Eventually, and much to Vance's dismay, Robin forced him to go to the hospital. While Vance was off getting his hand cast; Robin started talking to Griffin who was there with his best friend, Billy. Billy apparently hadn't been paying attention while cooking and set his hand down on an extremely hot stove, not a very fun night for him. Vance got done first and came out just ready to go the fuck home. Robin of course insisted on staying until Billy was out.

He had told Vance to suck it up and sit the hell down. Vance thinks that if his hand hadn't been broken he just might've swung at his friend. They sat there talking, really it was just Robin and Griffin talking and Vance throwing in the occasional commentary. Then out walked Billy who was just as confused as Vance was at first. Though after Billy was out, they continued talking anyways. Yes, they were still in the fucking hospital waiting room. They eventually got kicked out of there though but they all exchanged numbers. Well more like Griffin, Billy and Robin exchanged numbers while Vance grumbled about why the hell was he swapping numbers with fucking strangers. After a while, they all started hanging out in a group pretty often. At least four or five times a week. Vance hadn't wanted to admit it then and he still wasn't going to fucking admit it now, or at least not out loud but they were his best friends. So, he was actually kind've glad Robin forced him to go to the hospital, even if it took a shit ton of convincing. Mostly just Robin threatening to cut off Vance's hair while he slept if he didn't get his ass to the hospital. So, it was some pretty solid convincing.

Vance has found that unfortunately, Robin is pretty damn convincing. It's what makes him good with customers. Typically, they work the same shift so Robin works the register, and Vance stocks and cleans shit. It's a system that's worked for them the last few years. It still technically works but Robin has gotten into the habit of flirting with customers. Well, Vance can't even fucking say customers plural cause it's only one damn guy. This dude Finney, he's at least a nice enough dude but Vance doesn't know him or trust him. He does find it funny though. Ever since Finney set foot in that store, Robin has been down bad. Vance is being fucking generous with that because it's an understatement, Robin was down horrendously. They'd get home and after listening to Robin talk about what Finney said to him that day or how pretty he looked all day at the store, it'd continue at home. There's been more than once when Vance has cursed Finney for existing because Robin won't stop talking his damn ear off about him.
