chapter 2: "goodnight pedri"

i sat down in the backseat of the car, waiting for my parents to get in. i still couldn't believe that i met pedri. i've heard of him before but i never really thought about him at all until now. i also didn't expect us to click so well. usually im super awkward infront of new people but right when we started talking it felt like we were already friends.

it had started to rain in barcelona so i was just looking out the window and watching the raindrops fall down the glass. ding

i picked up my phone and saw that i had gotten a text from a random number. wow he texted me pretty fast, i thought. the text read,

unknown number:
hey it's pedri, is this y/n?

my heart lept because i couldn't believe that he actually texted me. i thought that he would get my number and then just not text me at all. i texted back tho.

y/n:
hey pedri!

he texted back pretty quickly so i just let the convo roll out,

unknown number:
ok good. i really enjoyed meeting you today

y/n:
same here

unknown number:
will you be at our game on thursday?

y/n:
unfortunately not, we head back to the u.s tomorrow morning

unknown number:
oh. do you know when you're coming back?

y/n:
probably in a month or so

the car was slowing to a stop infront of our hotel so i assumed i should probably wrap up the convo.

"hey y/n are you still up for dinner tonight?" my mom asked. crap, i totally forgot.

" oh yeah sure, thanks mom"

i turned my attention back to my phone one last time,

y/n:
hey pedri it was nice talking to you but i have to go to dinner with my parents so i'll talk to you later if that's ok?

unknown number:
oh yeah of course!

y/n:
ok cool. bye!

unknown number:
bye!

*after dinner*
i took my shoes off and plopped on my bed. i laid there for a couple minutes before picking up my phone to text pedri. it was 10 p.m so i didn't know if he would respond or if he was asleep already but i decided it was worth a shot.

y/n:
hey pedri

after a couple minutes my phone went off so i assumed it was pedri

unknown number:
oh hey. how was dinner, you guys got back late

y/n:
it was good but we were there for hours

my eyes hurt so bad just typing that text message out. i got up out of bed and changed out of my clothes and into my pjs, i went over to the sink and took off my makeup and brushed my teeth. my mom and dad had booked a room with a main room that had a kitchen, small living room, and a king bed and a side room with 1 queen sized bed, the bathroom connected in between so we shared.

i walked out of my room and into my parents room to say goodnight,

"goodnight mom, goodnight dad, love you guys"

"goodnight sweet pea" my mom said. she's used that nickname ever since i was a little girl and apparently i would never outgrow it.

"goodnight y/n" my dad chimed in.

"see you guys bright and early tomorrow!"

"yup!" my mom said with a gross look on her face, i know she hates waking up early.

i walked out of the room and into mine. i turned off the light and crawled into bed. i picked up my phone and opened up messages.

unknown number:
you must be exhausted

y/n:
yeah pretty much. im gonna head to bed, i have an early morning tomorrow.

unknown number:
ok. fly safe tmr

y/n:
i hope. sleep well

unknown number:
yeah you too. goodnight y/n

y/n:
goodnight pedri

i clicked on his number and created a new contact. i put in for the name,"pedri :)". i set an alarm for 5:30 and turned my phone off. i was so happy that today happened but also confused because i don't know why he would want my number and that he was actually texting me. but i thought he was sweet and pretty cute so i just played along. i was ready to leave but now im not so sure that i want to. my last thought as i drifted off to sleep was pedri.
