A day or two had gone by, and as if it were a miracle, Charlie seemed to be back to his normal self. He was able to keep food down and maintain a good temperature, and on an even better note, nobody else seemed to get sick.
Schlatt had ordered a security system online, though you had to convince him that standing at the door with a loaded gun didn't count as one. He seemed a bit stressed ever since that random guy showed up, just stalking around the house. If it took so long to notice him there, Schlatt wondered how long this had been going on.
You managed to finally lay Evie down for a nap. Despite her size, she was a bundle of energy. Walking downstairs, you found Schlatt grumbling as he tried attaching the security system to the wall, attempting to shove and slam it with all his might into the little pegs that helped hold it in place.
A small laugh escaped you as you made your way over to him, carefully taking the small monitor and carefully clicking it into its place on the wall. "Sometimes you just need to be gentle with things, hun."
"I know, I know." He said almost immediately, letting out an aggravated sigh as he rubbed his hands over his face. "It just worries me. We've been in the clear for so long now. Seeing something like this happen makes me think we're about to get back into the shitshow."
Sitting next to him, you placed one arm around his shoulders, your free hand gripping one of his. "Don't you think you're a bit paranoid? Sure, I don't think that guy had good intentions, but no matter where we move, we're going to have at least one creep in our neighborhood.."
Schlatt sighed, beginning to rub his thumb across the back of your hand. "I just don't want anything to happen to the kid, y'know? If this is supposed to be our new life, I don't want her to get dragged down by the past."
A smile formed on your face as you carefully leaned forward, placing a small kiss on his cheek. "Says the one who took her on a bank heist." You teased him softly before sitting up straight. "Where's Ted and Charlie?"
"Last time I talked to him, I think Charlie was heading upstairs to take a shower, and Ted went to lie down for a bit. Claimed he had a headache or something." He muttered softly.
After giving a small nod, you slowly stood up. "I might as well go check on them too. Let's hope Ted hasn't caught whatever Charlie had.." You spoke softly, giving Schlatt one last kiss on the forehead before making your way upstairs.
Everything seemed so quiet once you made it to the top. Carefully, you approached Ted's door, giving a gentle knock, only to receive no answer. "Teddy? You alright?" You called out softly, not wanting to be too loud, just in case. When silence still filled the room, you carefully twisted the handle, cracking the door slightly to peek inside.
There laying together in bed was both Charlie and Ted, the taller of the two sound asleep in Charlie's arms. Hearing the door creak open, he quickly looked over, smiling softly as his hands carefully stroked Ted's hair. "He's alright. I guess he had a busy day at work." He spoke quietly.
You were honestly just relieved that both boys were alright. Leaning against the door frame, you gave a small laugh. "Man, a cuddle session without Schlatt and I? What are we now, chopped liver?"
Charlie laughed slightly, too, carefully pulling himself from Ted before standing by your side. "Both of you will get extra cuddles tonight, then." He reassured you softly, placing a gentle kiss on your cheek.
Sighing softly, you smiled and rested your head against Charlie's shoulder, watching as Ted laid sound asleep in his bed. "We've been through fights, car chases, bank robberies.. yet Ted here is exhausted after making coffee for 8 hours." You giggled, enjoying the warmth of Charlie's body against yours. "I think I prefer this over the last jobs, though. He's seemed happier."
