Ibraham's Pov.

               Mixed emotions.
             

" Excuse me". The moment the doctor walked in and every body stood up. " How is she doing sir". Madam ice rush to him. She had every look of restlessness on. I wouldn't blame her, she and Ejiro seem to have shared a very strong relationship. " Who are you madam?".

" I'm the mother".

" O ok. Are you the only family she has?".

" No.". I startled. " I'm the ..". Confused of what to even say. I draw to the confusion." I'm the husband".

" Ok. Come with me sir". We walked in silent to his office. Unlike the hallway we sat at. His office seemed welcoming and the air condition is all what I wanted to calm my nerves. I just which whatever this man has to say doesn't end up breaking my heart into tiny pieces.  Inshallah.

" Doctor how is my wife doing?".

" How did your wife sustain such injury sir?".

" Well. We...lll .... Sir. I". What the fuck was I going to say?.  that my supposed ex lover did justice to her?. " Sir". I adjusted myself on the sit because I was far from being comfortable.

" Are you aware she is pregnant?". I chuckled lightly. " It very obvious because her baby pump is already growing". How silly the question sounds.

" So what went wrong". My silence said it all. " Any way here are the result of the scan" . He hands me an envelope. " Thanks to God the baby is fine but she sustain an internal injury at the left side of her womb area, which may likely or may not lead to some complication. But one thing is sure. She would experience pains at her abdomen area for a couple of day or maybe more till her wounds heal".

" But sir when is she going to gain consciousness". Don't know were this sudden care and support is coming from but I felt so worried about Ejiro and this supposed baby. I wanted them but to be safe. Have been restless.

" Soon. she needs rest and I would advise you get a wheelchair to assist her for the time being and please, sir. Your wife needs care and all the support. Don't let her do her things herself. She needs all the baby girl treatment she could get. Little amount of stress or hard labor can affect your baby".

" Thank you sir". We both stood to our feets. " Check up is in every two weeks". 

" Ok sir". I was about walking away when I remembered. " Where can I get the wheelchair sir".

" Make payment at the pharmacy and you get it". I nodded in response before walking away. Thank Allah Ejiro is fine. Truth be told, I wanted Ejiro to gain consciousness but how can I face her. I made my way to the family just to see my mom crying and my dad consoling her. My sis, aunty and uncle all had a sobber face but madam ice was no were to be seen.

My heart sank.
Ejiro. What happened to Ejiro.

" Ejiro. Dad what happened to Ejiro?".
My question brought everyone back to reality. Everyone stood up.  " Ejiro is fine. Infact she is very fine. Worry for yourself because Ejiro will be getting the justice she deserves".

" By that you mean?". I question madam ice who walked in on our conversation.

" Its so unfortunate that Ejiro was on a live video before your crazy lover attacked her brutally. The video is all over the internet and is one of Twitter best trend. It's over. Your dreams has been shattered. How will you scale through this one?. You deserve worst for what you did to Ejiro. She is only in this condition because of you".

" My son has no fault in this!!".

" Don't raise your voice at me. If you had raise your voice at your stupid son many be he would have been brought up with a proper home training. Ejiro is strong and even on her dying bed she would fight for herself".

" Its not a time to point fingers but to stay strong as a family".

" O shut up you useless woman. You would always support your good for nothing husband. Look me I be confirm ashawo ( look at me I'm a confirm prostitute). People they look down on us( people look down on us). But nobody understand wetin be blood reach us( but no one understands the meaning of family like we do. We dey this street and we stand by blood because we get only ourselves  ( we live in the streets and we understand the bond of family Because outside been rejected by society, we only got ourselves)".

" What are you driving at?". I asked. I was more than fed up with this conversation.

" Ejiro had a promising life. Ejiro gave up that life of luxury just for this child. That same child you have commend your flesh to become a bastard". Her statement hit me hard on my chest and ego. Something about her words reminded me of my dad. " All Ejiro wanted was for you to at least acknowledge you had a child, so that child won't bare the name bastard. In ex change she pleaded you protect her and this unborn child when you brought that stupid offer of your. Where is Ejiro now?. But that stupid lover of your is walking freely". Madam ice broke into series of tears.

I felt the pain as much as she does. I felt it more because I have failed Ejiro. If only I could take back time, if only I could have known Fatima could be this crazy. If only I could_.

" Excuse you.  the patient is now conscious". A average height short black nurse said before immediately walking away without hear our response. The whole family rushed into Ejiro's room apart from me. My legs found it hard to move. I could feel a sign of relief but I still felt shame, pain and maybe more emotions. I think I should go make preparations for the wheel chair, that way I could get more time before i face Ejiro.

Or should I probably check up on her first?. I walked in front of her room before realization stroke me. I wasn't ready to face Ejiro at all. I felt like screaming, I felt like crying, I felt heavy. Why?. If it's wrong to question you Allah then so be it but permit me to ask just this once. Why?. Why?.
