Concealed feelings

Mikayla's POV:
"Uugghh," I groaned as the alarm kept on ringing, bringing me out of dreamworld into reality. I looked for it with my hand and turned it off and sat up grudgingly on my bed. I reached for my phone on my nightstand and saw that I had a message from Jason my crush that read "hi babe".
I replied with a hello and went off to la-la land daydreaming about him from his short black hair to his dotted black eyes to his perfectly pointed nose.....and his....... Narnia..... Wait a minute Narnia?? I thought in confusion as to why my best friend's name would pop up when I was daydreaming.
It wasn't long before I remember to check up on her and make sure she was ready for school. Her bedroom window was right opposite to mine and so I just opened my window and began to call out her name. I didn't see her hanging around her room
"what is it?"" she replied angrily as she storms out of her bathroom. I noticed she was actually ready in his with sweatpants and grey t-shirt. She must have been fixing her hair then cause it looked messy and she held a brush in her left hand.
She give me a death glare which I ignored and began to laugh at her early morning mood swings "chill girl", was just checking up on you".
"CHILL, you could have just belled me you know, it's why phones were made.
"Na, would have been a waste of time and besides I wouldn't have been able to see you with such messy hair ooh my that hair looks hilarious". I said as we both burst out laughing.
" finish up and meet me downstairs" "yeah sure MUM!!!", she replied as she rolled her eyes and got back to tamimg her hair.
We met few minutes later in front of her house and had a little chit chat as we drove off to school in her car. We each have a car but we decide on which one to use depending on what day it was.
Luckily for us we arrived just on time to hear the bell ring for lessons to begin. Narnia and I had a short race class. The loser was to get lunch for the winner. She won anyways. I stood no chance with my short legs compared to her long legs. We got to class 10 minutes before the teacher who turned the class into a cemetery once he came through the doors. After an hour-long of a rather interesting class, the bell rang for recess. We got some snacks from the cafeteria and went and sat on the bleachers watching the cheerleaders train and talking about random stuff. Before long recess was over and we returned to class.
For some unknown reason, the teacher decided to exit the class before time was up so Narnia and I settled on discussing our life after university while some students texted anyway on their phone and others just renewed their makeup. "Hey guys check this out David and Goliath are finally at peace with each other, a bully in my class commented in reference to our height. The whole class erupted into fits of laughter.
decided to just ignore but Narnia had other plans then "I guess you better shut up cause Goliath might just smash you to the ground", she retorted threatenly causing him to shut his beak because everyone in the class knew not to take Narnia's threats lightly.
The bell rang finally and we drove off home now I was still raging but she cooled down 10 minutes into the drive.
A few weeks, later I bumped into Jason, my crush while I was returning from the bathroom at recess he tried to strike a conversation with me but I was too nervous to talk to so I grabbed the chance and scurried away to class when he got distracted by the bell indicating that recess was over. I let out a sigh of relief once I was safely in class Narnia was already in her seat
"You okay?", she asked seeing how out of breath I was. "Were you chased by dogs or something?" she continued.
"Well guess what" "what?" I just run away from my crush because he tried to strike a convo but I was too nervous so I run". I finished out of breath.
"What?, You never told me you had a crush". She said with surprise laid in her tone. "I didn't?", I asked surprised myself. I literally close everything. She gave me a knowing look and I knew she wanted me to spill everything and so I did. She seemed more happy for me done hurt than I didn't tell her earlier. "You do realise you didn't stay to me right?", "Oh yeah sorry......his name is....... they interrupted before I could finish the rest of my sentence. Narnia wouldn't stop teasing me after that discussion. I didn't receive a text from him for a few days and I began to worry. Maybe I pushed him away. Narnia noticed my sudden change in mood and offered to take me out.
We went to the mall, ice cream parlor and finally the basketball court to watch on going game. Jason, who is a popular basketball player together with his team were competing against another team. Narnia began to cheer for Jason's team and give them a standing ovation every time they scored. I tried to signal her that Jason was my crush but she was too engrossed in the game to notice. After the game, Jason approached Narnia and I at the bleachers and asked for my number since we've only been in contact on Instagram.
And this time somewhere somehow, I was able to talk back to him and at the end we planned a date but before that Narnia pulled me away and inquired of when I was planning on telling her who I was talking about.
I tried to justify myself with what happened in class and and at the game but she wasn't having any of it. "okay, okay, I'm sorry", I said with eyes. Fine but promise never to keep anything from me ever again. She replied after a moment of silence. "I promise". I assured saluting her. she shook her head in laughter and we hugged it out then returned to Jason who was threatened by Narnia not to allow even a strand of hair on my head to fall or else he was dead meat. He looked frightened at first but still went ahead to ask me out on a date.

Narnia's POV:
After going to the mall, and an ice cream parlor, I dragged Mikayla to the basketball court to watch an on going game. I had the biggest crush on one of the players so there was no way I was missing this game.
I did not refrain from cheeringing or giving his team a standing ovation each time they scored. A minutes after the game, Jason, my crush approached us. It took everything in me not to faint right there.
"Good evening ladies", he greeted on reaching us. Mikayla and I went on to respond in unison after which he proceeded to engage Mikayla in a conversation. I felt really hurt and left out. From their convo,I got to know that Jason was Mikayla's crush whom she told me about earlier and it hurts me even more. And so I took Mikayla away for a minute and questioned her on why she didn't tell me his name earlier. She tried to justify herself but I wasn't having any of it so she is settled with apologizing and I forgave her on the terms that she never hides anything from me again.
She agreed with a salute making me shake my head as we both burst out laughing. We hugged it out and returned to Jason who I allowed to go on a date with Mikayla only after making it clear to him that if anything at all was to go wrong, he's dead meat. mikayla looked happier than before and that's what matters to me most even when it means concealing my feeling and giving up the guy I liked.
