I took my seat on the bench, reserving a spot for James when he arrived. I had ordered a hotdog, and some hot chips. I began picking at my chips, glancing around the park for James, I saw his beat up old truck rattling down the road towards a Woolworths. My confusion was obvious, what the hell was he doing there. He walked in empty handed and exited with a armful of lollies and chocolate. I laughed to myself. He never came to meet me without chocolate. I don't know why I thought this time would be any different.

I breathed a deep sigh and watched as he drove around to the park and exited his truck again. He walked over to me, food in hand. He dropped it all on top of me and sat down.

"Hey mate, glad you could make it." I smiled.

"Oh god, lets be real, I had to drag myself out of bed, forced myself to change, actually be productive and keep my eyes open long enough to drive here and not be caught by the cops or not crash into a pedestrian." He exaggerated stealing one of my chips.

"Oh get over yourself drama queen!" I teased.

"Soooooo...." he questioned.

"Soooooo...." I repeated confused.

He rolled his eyes, "who's the lucky girl who stole the amazing Tristan Rosen's heart? I need to put a name to the face of the woman who will be limiting my time with my best friend."

"I don't know her name." I hung my head, colour flooding my cheeks.

"Typical. I could always trust you to do the wrong thing."

"So what do I do about it."

"Let's start from the top. How did you meet her? Tell me everything."

"Well, I had just texted you and then, well, I just saw her, there in all her beauty. And she took my breath away. Her voice! Her looks! Oh, I just knew that she was the one." I blushed, I never opened up to people, only to James.

"Gurl!" He exclaimed stretching out the 'ur' way longer than needed. "Tell me more."

"There is no more to tell. I just know I need to find out more about her."

"No kidding." he huffed. "There must be some little detail, what did she say when you heard her speak."

"Ummm, she was talking to her ex, I think. She was saying that he needed to move on, that they were never getting back together. Um, that he needed to take it like a man."

"Ooooohhh!" James squeezed excitedly. "Love triangle! You can be the dashing knight that swoops in, covers her painful memories with new happy ones of the two of you together. You will cover her sadness in your kisses! This will be perfect!" He sat clapping his hands and gasping.

"Calm down, she doesn't even know I exist."

"Oh but she will." he turned towards the game winking at me.

Oh brother, I rolled my eyes. I paused mid eye roll, my eyes casting upon a familiar treasured sight.

There she was. In all her beauty, at a baseball game. Every new thing I learned just seemed to increase my fondness of her. I nudged James who was intently staring at one of the man players who was removing his shirt to reveal a buff body.

"This better be good, cause boy! Look at those abs! And those arms! My god!"

"Look, it's her."

His head snapped to the same direction as my line of sight. He started squealing, slapping me on the shoulder. But I was to engrossed in my thoughts to care. She was mesmerising, and I never wanted my eyes to leave her.

The picture is James.

P.S. If you haven't realised yet, he is gay.
