Tony.
An hour passed and I was slowly going insane. The press was gathering outside and news of Obediah's arrest has probably been released. No one would tell me anything and I just kept waiting impatiently bouncing my leg.
Once I decided it was enough I stood up and stopped a nurse, by taking her wrist in my hand. "Excuse me miss" She turned around. "Yes?" she looked down at my hand that was holding her wrist. I let go. "I brought in my friend, Ransom Evans" I bit the inside of my cheek. "Would you know how she's doing?" I asked. "Last thing I saw they were taking her for a CT scan and X-rays. But I can check again for you," she said and I let out a breath of relief. "Thank you"
I sat back down. This time my phone went off. It was Pepper. "How is she?" her voice was soft. "I don't know" "What happened?" she asked. I felt exhausted and I wasn't feeling like reliving the whole thing. "It's a very long story" I just said. Lucky for me a nurse came to me. "Mr. Stark" I looked up and stood up with the phone still against my ear. "Miss Evans is back from radiology, You can see her now," I told Pepper that I had to go and Followed the nurse to the room.
When I walked in Ransom was sleeping. Her face was completely bruised. Her eye was swollen and her upper lip was split. Tears sprung from my eyes. "Oh, God" I sat down next to her bed. The doctor came in and the nurse stepped aside.
"We patched her up the best we could," he said. I frowned. "The best you could?" I asked. "Yes, her ribs were a mess," he said. "There were lots of prior injuries but they should be healing well right now" he stated. "She's going to be okay." the doctor reassured me. I just nodded. I didn't know what else to say.
I took her hand and pushed it against my lips. I placed a soft kiss. "God, I'm so sorry" If I could I'd take her place. "It's not your fault" Ransom squeezed my hand. "Ransom, look at you!" My voice sounded almost desperate. "Why did you do that?" I asked. She looked away; "I had to keep Pepper safe," she said. She didn't make eye contact with me. "That's not your job," I said sharply. She frowned. "You said to look into it, Stane catching me was unfortunate" I pointed out.
"Unfortunate?" I scoffed. "If Pepper hadn't called me on time to warn me you would've been dead" She pulled her hand away when I slightly raised her voice. I instantly felt guilty. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to yell" I apologized. "I didn't want you to get hurt" Now she finally looked back at me. "Seeing you like this, it hurts" I confessed.
"I don't know what I'd do without you" My heart was beating out of my chest. I placed my hand on her cheek. Her eyes darted up and down her face. I was about to lean in but we were interrupted.
Ransom.
"Oh dear, poor thing!" Tony and I were rudely interrupted. I looked at the door. Vivian was standing there. She was completely dressed in black. I tried to smile but it hurt too much. "I heard that you were in a car accident" "I'm okay," I said. She ran up to me and hugged me. "I grunted. "Woah, hey lady you're hurting her" Tony leaped forward. Vivian let go of me. "Oh, I'm sorry" The mood in the room changed. It was almost like I was suffocating. "Did I hurt you?" I nodded. "I am so sorry darling" Her British accent came through.
She caressed my hair. I sighed. "I want to rest," I said. I felt guilty for saying this but I wanted them gone. My head was killing me. "But honey let me take care of you" Vivian almost sounded bitterly sweet. I know she was doing it because Tony was here. She was scared he was going to hurt me. "I am being taken care of" I looked at Tony. "I'll leave" Tony Said. "Here's your phone" he slipped it to me. "If you need anything I'll come back tomorrow," Tony said quietly disappointed. I didn't want to send them away. But I knew what was going to happen if I let them stay in one room together. I could not have that.
