Daryl and Rick left right after breakfast with only his crossbow and a will to live smaller than an eviscerated piece of paper.
He arrived at the highway, and immediately noticed a difference. The supplies left on the hood of the car were moved and car doors were flung open and there was a stench of dead walkers in multiple places.
That wasn't Sophia, Daryl realized. If it wasn't Sophia... then who the hell was it?
After clearing the area, Daryl located a set of tracks leading off the highway a ways from the car. Adjusting his hold on the crossbow, Daryl started his trek into the forest.
Not too far away, Daryl started to build a picture. There were at least two people- not walkers- that were on their way in a forest for... what? The tracker walked miles, feeling his eyebrows raise when he stumbled upon a small pile of charred branches surrounded by rocks of varying sizes. Taking a closer look, Daryl now knew that there were three unidentified people hanging around in the woods.

A snap caught the attention of Silas Barton, who quickly stopped in his tracks. All three siblings looked around, trying to locate the noise, but with the forest getting thicker, not much was seen.
Smacking away a mosquito from her sweating skin, Annalise reached around Thea to tap Silas to give him a nod.
"Put the knives down," A man growled the second the three started their conga line again.
"or what?" Annalise snapped immediately, shifting so she could stand in front of her younger siblings.
The man in front of them was tense, with his form defensive and observant. His wild eyes darted between the three, and he stood still, keeping his crossbow trained on the trio in front of him. "Else I'll blow all y'all's heads off, psycho girl. Put down the knives."
Feeling Thea tense from behind her, Annalise caved. She slowly moved her hands down to set the knife on the ground.
Ever defiant, Silas scoffed. "The hell are you, tellin' us what to do? Get that glorified bow outta our face!"
Annalise bit back a wide grin. Looking back to the raggedy man in front of her, Anna awaited his answer.
"Where's your group?" He demanded.
A small thud from behind her made Annalise turn her head to her sister. Always the actor, Thea kept up the mask of confusion. There were a few times the three had done this. Thea would act slow and disoriented. Annalise or Silas would explain how she was "deaf" and would then sign their next plan. Since no one in the new world knew ASL, it was a good way to communicate when they were caught.
