April, 2005.

❛ what are you thinking about, tyler cain?

A rising sickness bubbled in Mariah's stomach. The pop princess hunched forward, tummy cramping and skin drenched in sweat, hurling up a considerable amount of vomit into the public toilet. She didn't know how she ended up in this position. One minute she was in the interrogation room, avoiding every uncomfortable question about her relationship with Tyler Cain, and now, she was puking.

A few minutes ago, she remembered feeling woozy, a pale tinge washing over her cheeks once her stomach began to do flips. The detectives kindly escorted her to the bathroom, and the minute Mariah entered the stall, she collapsed by the toilet. Now, she's been sitting in this stall for ten minutes.

As Mariah let out a shaky breath, she swatted her matted blonde strands away from her face, trying her best to push down the sickness. It was strange, Mariah didn't feel sick this morning, so the sudden stomach bug was peculiar.

Sure, those police detectives were treading the fine line between inquisitive and nosy, but nothing so obscene that it made want to Mariah hurl all over the floor. And now here she was, tossing up her breakfast in this toilet, deathly afraid of going out there to face those detectives again.

Were you attracted to Tyler? How did you two meet? Have you ever tried to cover up any of Mr. Cain's crimes? All of those questions made Mariah's head spin, because deep down, she knew the real answers, and they definitely weren't pretty.

"Ms. Carey, are you alright?"

Mariah heard a voice gently echoing through the enclosed door of the ladies' bathroom. The singer forced herself to come back to reality, feeling her temperature starting to cool down. "Just a minute," Mariah gurgled, pushing herself up from her crouched position on the floor.

Once she stood up, a dizziness kicked in. Mariah wobbled in the stall, her eyes clasped shut as she waited for the wooziness to slowly dissipate. Eventually, after a few seconds of steadying herself, she regained strength. With a big breath, Mariah walked out of the stall, momentarily fixing up her appearance in the mirror before walking out the room.

When she walked through the door, Mariah staggered to a stop once she saw one of the police detectives standing outside, waiting for her. "Ms. Carey, are you alright?" The man asked, concern scribbled all over his face. Mariah jolted in surprise, her skeptical pair of eyes staring at the nosy detective with a heated glare.
