"Morning, Commander!" Commander Hicks was greeted by Lieutenant Samuel Morales, from LAPD's DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) office. Hicks was standing in front of his office desk, staring at the screen of his computer, which hosted the man in his office.
"Morning lieutenant!" Hicks greeted back.
"Sir, today may be our lucky day!" Lieutenant called triumphantly. "Our inside source tells us that we may get father and son returning to the house. We need your officer delivering as usual, but this time I'll set up outside and SWAT will lead the breach and the backup. If our sources are right, they might be snuggling the shooters today and a huge shipment. This might be the big bust we have been hoping for this whole week!"
"Roger that!" Hicks said with a nod.
In the locker room, the officers finished setting up and getting ready for shift. They had been quiet for a long time, each staring at the empty spot next to Hondo.
RIIIIIINGGGG RIIIIIIING
Luca took out his cellphone and smiled at the screen.
"Guys!" he called, turning towards the others, showing his cellphone up high."Guess who?" he said with a smile.
He clicked on the screen and then greeted, "Aye! Aye! Captain!"
"Hey Chris!"
"Babe!"
"Sup, cap?"
"Hey guys! I missed a voice there!" Chris called.
"Yeah, we a man down!" Hondo responded, as the others nodded sadly.
"Any word on Deacon?" Chris asked.
"I called the hospital this morning." Hondo reported. "Family was discharged together, even though they're in rough shape. All positive. D couldn't even talk! Hasn't been able to keep anything down since last night. They pumped IV into him and the others and sent 'em home. Hospital is overflowing with patients."
"Aw, man!" Luca lamented.
"We gotta help, guys. They're six!" Chris said frustrated.
"Not all of them are sick. Hospital said the older boy is asymptomatic, but everyone else is very delicate. Hicks said he called Deac's phone yesterday and indeed, Matthew sounded fine." Hondo reported.
"But a seventeen year old cannot run a house for a sick family! Does he even know how to make soup out of a can?" Tan asked.
"Listen, I can call Nichelle. Get em a nurse that can help out, sanitize rooms, distribute food."
"I can make a call to deliver some groceries for them." Chris added.
"I can talk with Terry. See if the restaurants can whip up some already made meals for them. Something easy. Soups, appetizers... easy on the stomach." Luca said.
"We got a huge evaluation session today in the Academy. I'll take over. I've been working with Deac on it, so I can sub. It's really important we get those certifications and paperwork today." Tan suggested.
"I can run the case files on his desk. He and I were working the missing kid case, the one by Trenches Avenue, which the DA asked to be delivered today. Deac was suppose to take it and present his statement. So, I'll work with them til he comes back." Street said.
"Sounds good. C'mon, y'all, we gotta help 'im out!" Hondo urged, while the others nodded.
The door suddenly swung opened and Cabrera stuck her head inside."Guys! Hicks calling everyone! Now!" she announced.
