"Baby!" Hondo called, holding the phone to his ear, back to the group.
"Oh my God! Hondo! I'm so glad you called." Nichelle responded cheerfully.
"Uh...everything ok?" Hondo asked confused. Hondo pressed a finger on his other ear, in order to block out the noise from outside.
Firefighters and rescue groups were leaving the lot, while executives gathered and waited. Most of the media and crowd was leaving as well. Hicks and the other SWAT officals were still waiting on instructions to go in.
"You wont believe it! Oh my God! I'm soooo psyched! This is so amazing!" she responded overly excited, so much so that it surprised Hondo.
"Good news?" Hondo asked frowning hard.
"Amazing news!" she paused, to calm her excitement. "So, I'm in the hospital, but-"
"Hold up! Hold up! What? Nichelle, you in the hospital? What happened?" he asked alarmed.
Tan, Luca and Street turned to him and frowned. Hondo felt their eyes and took several steps farther. The guys had been working on their assignments, but were still awaiting on news about the building.
"Baby, relax! I took a wrong step and hurt my ankle in the electric stairs. Nothing bad."
"Oh! You alright?"
"Yes, just have a mild sprain. But you'll never guess. I wasn't the only one that tripped. My friend, Ebony -Neenee-, remember her?"
"Yeah"
"She also lost her footing. She had a nasty fall, but you wont believe what happened!" she paused, "She started complaining about the pain, so we decided to bring her in. Doctors wanted to take a look at my ankle too. When they ran the usual tests to take X-Rays of her foot...Oh my God! She's pregnant! Wooooo!" Nichelle finished with a burst of giggles. Hondo could her laughter in the background as well.
"Um...Seriously?" Hondo said with a smirk, shaking his head slowly.
"I'm so excited! We already started celebrating, but she has yet to tell Joseph, her husband. So, shhhh! By the way, baby, we're still waiting for the hospital to discharge us and I really don't want to leave Neenee until he gets here -it's about a two hour drive from his work- So, is it ok if we postpone the gender for tomorrow? I already called my parents and told them. Momma is on her way here!"
"It's ok, babe. Uh...but, listen" he paused, "Uh...I'm happy for Neenee, but...I need your help on something."
"Yeah, sure!"
"You told me you sent Kelly and Leyla to see the lady that helped you? For a meeting this morning?"
"Yes. I was surprised that Miss Helen called me earlier today saying the girls never showed up. I got the impression Kelly was excited about it." Nichelle answered disappointed.
"Baby, listen to me. The girls -they made it somewhere else. They may be in danger! I need you to tell me the address you gave them." Hondo said in a rush.
"Oh, no!" Nichelle said concerned. "I told them 224 Saint Monico Street. The house is about 10 minutes from the convention center downtown."
Hicks approached the group and loudly said. "Trace came in. Texts came from a house on 154 Saticoy Street." The group gathered around him.
"That's blue tarp!" Rubio called.
Everybody turned to him with a frown, even Hondo, who still held on to the phone on his ear.
"Huh?" Street asked.
"It means it's a place for homeless and street gang bangers. Usually streets or blocks with many abandoned houses that gangs leave for others to live in." Q explained.
