I hit the ground with a painful thump as the alarm on my phone was blaring across the room. I looked around in panic, oh yeah, sleeping on the couch in my flat. At least I don't have a flat mate because otherwise he or she would probably be laughing at me, but it's lonely without one. I sighed and turned off my alarm. Great, first day at my new school. I groaned to myself as I headed towards the kitchen. I began to make myself a bowl of Shreddies and in the process I caught a glimpse of my reflection in the microwave door. My bed head made me look like I just made out with a static-charged balloon, my glasses perched at the end of my nose, creases all over from where I pressed my head against my pillow. "Sexy, Phil," I shook my head and ate my breakfast. I placed my bowl in the sink and headed towards my "room." It's just an empty room with a closet until I get my bed. I ducked into my closet and began to choose my clothes out. I decided on one of my pairs of black skinny jeans and my blue and purple tie-dyed shirt. Well, it was tie dyed when I made it with my good friends back home a few months ago, but I washed it in the wrong cycle, and it turned into a smudgy mess, but it still looked cool. I closed my closet door and wandered to the bathroom and brushed my hair and teeth, and then admired myself. I glanced at my phone. 7:45. I need to get going or I'll be late. I grabbed my bag and walked out, locking the door behind me. I began walking to the scary looking building that will be my new school. I only have to deal with it for six months until I graduate and go to college. As I got close, I could see all the cliques and couples standing around and talking. The worst part about moving in the middle of the school year was the fact that everyone else already had friends, whilst I had nobody. I heard the shrill sound of the bell, and I made my way to the front office. A friendly looking secretary sat at the desk in there. She smiled at me warmly and held out her hand. "You must be Philip." She said while shaking my hand. "You can just call me Phil." I told her quietly. "I'll take note, Phil, let me go get your papers." She stood up and headed towards one of the rooms in the back. She couldn't have been much older than me, probably twenty two at the latest, her long blonde hair braided down her back, reaching the small of her back. "Ah, yes. Here you go, Phil." She smiled and handed me my time table. I walked out and headed towards the hall marked "Final Formers" I found my locker and spun the lock, getting it open on my third try. I tossed in my bag and grabbed my binder. "English, what room is that?" I said to myself. I looked back down at my timetable. That's when I was knocked to the ground. "Oops, I'm so sorry mate. Let me help you. " I heard someone say. I looked up to find a beautiful boy staring down at my with his hand outstretched. He pulled me up and grabbed my binder. "I'm really sorry, I should have been watching where I was going" I spoke, staring into his wide chocolate eyes. "No it's my fault, I accidentally ran into you. Are you new here?" He asked me, I nodded and he stuck out his hand. "My name is Dan" he said with a smile on his face. I would pay money to see him smile. He has dimples lighting up his face, and his eyes shine like the stars. "I'm Phil," I replied. He dropped my hand and adjusted his books. "Where you headed, Phil?" He asked me. "English." I replied quickly. "Cool, me too. Come with me to my locker, then I'll walk there with you." I trailed after him. He opened his locker on the first try. I realized it was right next to mine. "Did you find your locker yet, Phil?" He asked me. I nodded and pointed at it. "Yeah, it's right there." "Cool, were locker buddies." I nodded and laughed. I saw his time table hanging inside his locker door. I noticed it was the same as mine. "Hey, Dan. We have all the same classes together!" I said excitedly. He glanced up at the paper. "Looks like we do. I'll have to show you where everything is then" he laughed and winked at me. I wondered if he was serious or just being friendly. I nodded as we approached the door that said "ENGLISH 101" on it. He pulled it open and walked towards his seat. I began to follow Dan towards his seat. I noticed the chair next to him was empty. "No one sits here, go ahead and sit." He told me reassuringly. I put my stuff down and the teacher stood up and began to teach. I didn't learn much, I spent the whole lesson staring at Dan. He's perfect. I think I might be starting to like him. "What the hell, Phil? You've only known him for and hour an you're already getting a crush." I muttered to myself. "What was that, Phil?" He asked, turning towards me. Oh shit. "Nothing, just thinking." I responded, hoping he believed me. "Okay, then." He turned back around. That was a close one. I sighed and continued staring until the bell rang. This repeated in every single class for the rest of the day. Staring and daydreaming. During the last class, we just talked the whole time since we had a sub with no lesson plans. I just told a corny joke, and when he finished laughing, I decided to grow a pair and invite him over. "Hey, Dan? Would you like to go over to my place after school?" I asked, hoping he was free. "Yeah, sure." He responded, grinning like a madman. So after the final bell rang, we made our way towards our lockers, chatting the whole time, grabbed our stuff and walked out the door, with a smile on my face.
