I awoke again to find Dan missing. I instantly went to the kitchen to find his note. It was in the exact same place as last time, I picked it up.
"Phil,
I went home to get ready. I may have broken up with Lucy, but I'm not ready to come out. The good thing is I don't have to deal with Lucy since she's in Bath until Sunday. So don't tell anyone at school about us, but especially don't tell Lucy. XX
Love, Dan"
I folded the note up carefully and put it in one of my random drawers. I put a bit more effort into my looks than I did yesterday. I pulled on one of my pairs of black skinny jeans and a dark navy button up shirt. I put my toast in the toaster and ran towards my room again to straighten my slightly wavy raven hair. I unplugged the straighteners and walked back into the kitchen to quickly eat my toast. I slid on a pair of black converse and grabbed my phone and walked out the door and locked it behind me. I was really happy to have Dan back with me, I guess it showed since I was skipping toward the pavement. I looked through the window to notice that Dan sitting on the front step of the complex. I silently opened the door and tiptoed up to him. I poked him in the neck and he jumped in surprise, but tried to cover it by standing up. He smiles at me and we began walking toward the school. Dan broke the comfortable silence by saying "Philly, I love you, but I'm ready to come out to the school yet. Can we please keep this a secret?" I turned to find him staring at me with hope and love in his deep chocolate colored irises. I grinned and replied. "Dan, first off, I love you too, and don't worry, we don't have to say anything yet. But what does this make us?" He pondered for a second, "Phil, will you be my boyfriend?" He asked with a hopeful smile. I returned his smile, "Is that even a question? Of course!" He looked around and pulled me into a quick hug. "Thanks so much Phil! You make me so happy." He pulled away and flashed me a lopsided smile, his dimple making a sad face. " I swear, Dan, the happier you get the sadder your dimple gets. It's so cute!" He blushed and drew a hand to his face to cover it. He glared at me as I began laughing hysterically, so he said, "Oh yeah, it's really cute when you laugh and your tongue pokes out of your mouth." I slapped a hand over my mouth. "Oh that is it." I said as I began to tickle him. "STOP!" He yelled repeatedly as he almost fell trying to wiggle away from me. I stopped when I noticed we were almost to the school. I smiled all the way to my locker. When I shut it I saw Chris and Pj walking toward me. "Hey Phillis," Pj said with a smile as Chris winked and waggled his fingers. I heard Dan whisper so I only I could hear, "Who are they?" I spoke up to break the tension. "Dan, this is Chris and Pj. Guys, this is Dan." Chris scowled slightly and Pj asked "Is that the Dan you were talking about yesterday?" I nodded and turned to Dan. "Sorry, they know about you because they're my friends." I then turned back to Pj. "Don't worry, he broke up with Lucy and he begged to get into my pants so I forgave him." Chris's scowl turned into a smile and Pj spoke up again. "Don't fret, we're okay with it, we're just confused about what happened between you guys." Pj whispered something into Chris's ear and Chris nodded. "Guys?" I said. Suddenly, Chris pinned Dan to the lockers. Pj got in his face, "If you ever do that to our friend again, I swear to God I will punch you in the nuts." Dan looked scared out of his mind, but he choked out an "okay." Chris let him go and then I smiled at them. "Thanks, guys, but we have to get to English." They nodded and smiled back, "See you at lunch Phillis!" I waved as they walked away, "Bye guys!" Pj have Dan one of the "I'm watching you." looks and Chris blew me a kiss. Dan and I began to walk towards English. He turned to me as we set our stuff on our desks. "So what's up with them?" He asked with a questioning look on his face. I giggled, "Danny's jealous? No, I ran into them yesterday when I walked out of the classroom. Like literally ran into them. We began talking and we ate lunch together, and we're already pretty close. They're something about me that instantly makes people like me." Dans face softened. "Oh, that's cool. Are they gay?" I laughed again, "Pj is bi, but Chris is a 'full-on, flaming, homosexual.' His words, not mine." Dan tensed a bit. "Do either of them have a crush on you?" I laughed really hard. "No, jealous much? Actually they started dating yesterday. They just don't want to show it in school." Dan relaxed again and settled into his seat. I sat in the empty chair next to him. The other students began filing into the classroom, so we dropped the subject and just started talking about TV shows. The teacher sauntered into the classroom, so I began to draw. At first it was just lines, and the. I realized I drew what resembled a face. I kept adding detail, and soon it looked just like a photograph of Dan. Probably my best one so far. I shoved it into my bag as class ended, then I poked Dan to wake him up. The rest of the morning followed that schedule, me drawing, Dan sleeping. At lunch, Dan came and ate outside with us, and we just questioned each other like we did the previous day. The afternoon classes were the same process as the morning classes, sleeping and drawing. But when we got home, it was a different story.
