I woke up with a pounding headache, feeling exhausted. Last night was horrible. It was so awkward when Sunghoon and Jay were talking about business, while Jungwon and I were discussing how we could afford to pay for more than one packet of ramen a day.
We're both poor, our fathers being policemen who worked for the mafia. The arranged marriage between us was supposed to give us a better life. But now, I'm contemplating if this really is a better life.
Being engaged to someone who's known me since I was born is complicated. Sunghoon knows everything about me, from my chubby and sassy childhood to my dislike of boys. He knows I only dated someone once to get him off my mind.
Despite all this, Sunghoon has the audacity to try to make a housewife out of me. I placed the pot of ramen down in front of him, and he grabbed my wrist, tugging me onto his lap.
"Eat with me?" he suggested, his voice low and soft. I flicked his forehead. "You drank too much wine again, didn't you?"
He chuckled, his cheeks slowly turning red. I caressed his cheek, leaning my head onto his shoulder. There was a long silence as we ate.
I finally asked him, "Hyung, why are you here with them?" He sighed, placing the chopsticks into the pot. "Me and Jay have a mission... I know we agreed on personal space, but I missed you and those cute braces. Did you get contacts?"
I hummed and sat up straight, straddling him as he continued to eat. Physical touch is normal between us, but intimacy with affection, kindness, and love behind it... maybe, from my side.
We've known each other since I was born. We feel comfortable around each other, and I think somewhere along those lines, love grew from my side. But I feel like he's being forced to, to keep his father's business a secret.
I was nothing but a police officer's son. I feel like people think I feed off him for some reason. I don't even know what our relationship is.
Later that day, I got my nails done with Quinley. She asked me the most bizarre question out of nowhere. "Will, do you have a girlfriend?"
I shook my head. "Why?" I asked, taking out my nails to check on them before placing them back inside.
"What's your ideal type for a girl... or a boy... we don't judge," Quinley said, taking out a notepad. I laughed. "Well, tall," I said, and she nodded.
"On what height rate?" she asked. I thought for a moment. Sunghoon-hyung is 5 ft 11. "5 ft 11," I said, and she hummed, taking notes.
"Is this really necessary?" I asked, and she nodded. "You're the campus' crush, I need to take notes for the poor people." I laughed.
"Go on," she gestured. "Someone who's sweet, kind, and can cook obviously the only thing I can cook is ramen. They don't have to be possessive, but instead, the 'you touch them, you die' type."
Quinley raised an eyebrow. "Wow, cowboy." I laughed. "Smart, and that's about it." "Really?" she asked, and I nodded.
"Emotionally and educationally intelligent, kind, sweet, and can cook, someone who will give you support and advice in your relationship, and someone who doesn't control you but allows you to be who you are wholeheartedly, that's what 'You touch her, you die' means."
Quinley looked at me with a curious expression. "Will, do you have a crush on Mai?" I shook my head. "What? No." Quinley hummed, playfully narrowing her eyes at me. "You sure?" I nodded, checking my nails.
The door opened, revealing Sunghoon-hyung. "What?" he asked, his voice firm. Quinley looked confused, and I rolled my eyes.
"Learn manners," I said, and Sunghoon-hyung raised an eyebrow. "What do you want? I said I wanted to be alone." "You can be alone when I leave, right now you're staying in my room."
I stood up, feeling a surge of anger. "You can't make me." Sunghoon-hyung smirked. "I can... and I will... or your father will lose his job." My heart dropped.
The next day. I grumbled, pushing him off. This is the last day for all of us in this stupid hotel. Tomorrow we're gonna go back to school. Sunghoon slung his arm over me again, snuggling into my neck.
I told him, "I never agreed to this." He hummed from my neck, placing soft kisses on my skin. "Sunghoon!" I scolded as he flipped me over onto my back.
He asked, "What?" leaning into my exposed cleavage. I said, "H-hyung....I-I'm not ready." His kisses and touches felt amazing, but I couldn't allow it. Not here and definitely not now.
He sighed and nodded, moving out from between my legs. I sat up, and he said, "Sit up." I hesitated before he picked me up by my armpits like I was a baby.
Sunghoon was sitting beside me, holding a bowl of food. I did want to eat, but I refused to accept anything from him. My stomach growled, but I looked away from him.
I told him, "I don't trust you." He begged me, "Baby, I won't hurt you...just eat, please." I refused, and he sighed heavily.
Sunghoon said, "Our wedding is next week, whether you like it or not." I shouted, "What?! You promised me space to think about it." He stood up and fixed his suit jacket.
Sunghoon said, "No more time to think, we're getting married." I shouted, "I'll object!" He spoke the honest truth, "You don't have a choice in this."
I swallowed hard as he stalked over towards me. "Weren't you moaning last night?" He asked me, leaning closer to me. I pushed him off gently.
I told him, "I don't wanna get married right now and definitely not to you." My cheeks felt hot as his face crept closer, his hot breath brushing off my skin.
Sunghoon whispered, "You will..." His lips ghosted off my skin. I pushed him off finally and pushed myself to sit up straight.
I asked him, "What did you do?" He looked me dead in the eyes, but I knew it was something else. Something was worrying him.
Sunghoon grabbed my neck, and I choked, gasping for air. I managed to breathe out, "Sunghoon, I can't breathe." He dropped me down onto the bed.
I had passed out due to shock and when I had done to come to,it was unlike anything I'd imagined.
I slowly blinked and opened my eyes completely. I froze with wide eyes. I was laying next to Sunghoon. He had his arm around my waist and my hand on his chest.
He took my hand and pressed a kiss against my palm. There was something sparkling in the moonlight. "Baby, we're married now....so you can wake up now?"
I told you it's a mess and I'm gonna make it even worse maybe, possibly. Not sure how my fucked brain will work.
