I had woke up in a hospital in a hospital bed, unable to move or leave, calling Castiel over a cell phone.

Cell phone.

Something I hadn't never needed to do.

"Hello?"

"Cas."

"Octavia?"

I could hear Sam's voice. "Is she okay?"

"We all thought you were dead. I didn't go through with your plan because it was suicide."

"I know that. Thank you, Cas."

"Where are you?"

"A hospital."

"Are you okay?"

"No."

"You want to elaborate?"

"I just woke up here. The doctors were fairly surprised. They thought I was brain dead."

"S—So, a hospital."

"Apparently, after Van Nuys, I suddenly appeared, blood and unconscious, on a shrimping boat off Delacroix. I'm told it upset the sailors."

"Uh, well, you're just in time. We figured out how to put Lucifer back into the cage."

"How?"

"It's a long story, but... Look, we're going after Pestilence now. So if you want to come help..."

"I can't help."

"What do you mean?"

"You could say my batteries are—are drained."

"What are you saying?"

"I'm saying that I am thirsty and my head aches. I have a bug bite that itches no matter how much I scratch it, and I'm saying that I'm just incredibly..."

"Human. I'm sorry."

"Well, my point is, I can't go anywhere without money for... an airplane ride. And food. And more pain medication, ideally."

"All right. Well, don't worry about us. Octavia, there's no point in getting yourself involved when..."

"When I'm useless?"

"When you're healing."

"It's the final quarter, and I'm on the bench." I chuckled without humor. "After everything."

"You'll be okay."

"Cas, wait. I'm sorry. The Winchesters turned out to be strong enough to... hold off Lucifer and Michael. They are not the burnt and broken shells of men that I believed them to be. But I can't help you because of... my condition, when you need me most of all. I owe all of you an apology."

"Tavia, you were willing to sacrifice yourself to save us and the other Winchester boy. You don't owe us anything. But thank you. I appreciate everything you did to help us."

"You're welcome."

"Get better."

I sighed, nodding even though I knew he couldn't see me, hanging up, leaning further back in bed, thinking.

After everything that I had sacrificed, after everything that had happened to me...

And I was left out of the big fight because it was almost as if I was human.
