The words escaped your throat almost painfully and you regretted them the second they did. You were not supposed to rely on anybody, especially someone you barely knew and wanted nothing to do with.

But the sheer panic that was still flaring in the pit of your stomach as you watched the yokai hold your sister had sent your mind in such frenzy that you would rather beg the stupid blond asshole than let anyone hurt her.

But nothing was happening, Amane was still held by her arms by the distorted faced monster, the water triggered by the fire alarm was now dripping on everyone in the room, blurring your vision and senses. You shook your head, trying to focus on your valid ear, the noises around and the sound of the water hitting the floor making it difficult to adjust.

Your hand clutching at the wooden amulet, your gaze darted to the floor in front of you and the monster in front seemed to notice it too because he angled his head in a curious gesture.

A cry escaped your lips and you fell behind, as blue flames crept up the floor in a sudden outburst. A shot of tremor rippled down your skin as your gaze fell upon the man standing in the middle of the flames.

There was a low shriek on the other side of the room and your heart lurched in your chest as you realized the monster had jumped back, still holding your sister who was now staring at the man in the flames in sheer disbelief.

Nanami turned around and only leveled an aggravated look at you, barely taking account of his surroundings.

"Do som-" You stuttered. "Do something !"

You pointed at the monster behind and the other moved, still on your mother's bed, totally unaware of the scene unfolding so close to her.

"What have you done ?" The blond man asked, his body still bathing in the blue flames and you could not help but wonder how they weren't burning him. "How did you summon me ?"

"We don't have time for this." You spat. "I'll do whatever you want later, but now-" You gritted your teeth, desperate to scratch the feeling of shame creeping up the back of your neck. "Help me."

There was a slight tremor at the corner of Nanami's mouth as you said the last words and you could have sworn he would have smiled if he was even capable of doing such a thing. You tightened your hold on the amulet which now was flaming hot in the palm of your hand, and you twitched, trying to ignore the pain.

Nanami turned around, seemingly noticing the other yokai in front of him and even without a face you knew exactly what he was feeling – fear, utter terror as he watched the man standing in front of him. What exactly was he that he inspired so much hate and fear to the other yokais ?

"Fuck." The distorted yokai said and as Nanami took a step forward, he jumped back throwing Amane to the ground and you could not help but run toward her to catch her before she could fall but it had been enough to distract Nanami and the yokai crashed through the window with a ringing noise, pieces of glass exploding in the room.

But the other had not moved, still on your mother's bed, he recoiled as the tall blond man got closer and stretched his hand toward the monster who barely shrieked before the sound abruptly stopped, and there was a tremor along his body before he literally shriveled on its inside before collapsing on the ground.

Amaned pushed you away before running to your mother's side, choking sounds escaping her throat as she ran her hand across the sleeping woman's face. Kneeling on the ground, you tried to stop the trembling of your hands, tried to ignore the panic fluttering in your stomach, and the usual sense of guilt that tugged at your mind.

You had put them in danger again. Unable to protect them, again.

Nanami was at the window in a second, his eyes scanning the surroundings and you realized the two nurses had disappeared too. The door was opened behind you and a familiar voice snapped you out of your clouded mind.
