Upon his arrival, Aki was met with the smell of latex and chemicals. Another one of the reasons he hated going to hospitals, the smell of them. He walked over towards the register and signed himself in then went and took a seat upon one of the chairs in the waiting room. Sitting down on a seat, he saw the pile of magazines and picked one up, an article about hairstyles.

"Hayakawa Aki?" a nurse called out from the opposite side of the room, peering her head around the corridor. The man stood up, leaving his warm seat and continuing towards the room trying not to break into a coughing fit. He sat down on the chair in the corner of the room, looking around at what was in there and where everything was situated. Bins with warning labels, boxes upon boxes of latex gloves, the examination table with that awful shiny looking fake leather that covered the cushioning.

"so, have you been feeling sick at all recently? any concerning symptoms?" the doctor asked typing something down with lighting speed on his computer.

"well i've had some difficulties swallowing my food, and occasionally i cough up blood but it might be because of my job?" he said sighing, messing about with the pack of sealed cigarettes in his coat pocket.

The doctor suddenly started fiddling around again with his laptop and turned back to Aki. "how about your relationships with people?" he asked as if he had some sort of gist of what was going on.

"well sometimes i lash out at people. My roommates in particular," he said sighing "it makes me feel guilty but it's like i can't stop" he pulled his hand out of his coat pocket and started fidgeting with the rings on his fingers instead.

the doctor noted down a few more things then proceeded to ask some more questions;

Q: do you exercise regularly?
A: not on purpose, my job requires quite a lot of movement though.
Q: do you smoke?
A: yes.
Q: is there anything making you anxious at the moment?
A: we'll i suppose some stuff at work?

almost every answer had something to do with his work. He truly was a workaholic.

The doctor stood up and did some physical tests. Testing reflexes, checking his heart beat which was quite slow. "I'd like to have some blood tests done however, i've managed to gather from the questions i've asked today that you have lung cancer." The doctor looked at the man, awaiting the tears. but nothing came?

"Oh, that's unfortunate." was his only reply.

Aki didn't cry. He never did, he saw it as meaningless. After Himenos death, which now was two years ago, he'd not cried since. He refused to.

Aki was led to a hospital room, another patient must've been staying in there as well, which he gathered from the closed curtains in the section opposite his bed. The doctors took denjis number off of Aki so that he, Power and Makima could bring round his necessities.

About 15 minutes later, they arrived with a suitcase full of his stuff, his shower gels and clothes, his pyjamas and even one of his candles to make his room feel more home like. They really did know him well. The two youngest started bombarding the poor man with questions, this causing makima to pull them both back slightly. "calm down, I think he needs a bit of space." she said turning back to Aki, "Do you know when you're going to be able to leave here?" she said

Aki intertwined his fingers, picking his nails subtly. "If I would've came four years ago, maybe a week. It's incurable now." He responded showing no emotion whatsoever. Denjis eyes started to well up, Power started shouting in denial. This resulted in the two being pushed out the room to let Makima have a talk with Aki for a minute. "You've done so much for us Aki. In this period of time, it's our turn to return that favour so please get the rest you need." she pleaded. Aki smiled for once, and nodded. He saw it as a command from his boss, a command for once, that wasn't to assassinate a devil, or research the disappearance of another member. It put him at peace slightly. Makima, Denji and Power all said their goodbyes and promised to visit him later in the week. Leaving Aki in there all alone, well, that was what he thought anyway, until a voice was heard from across the room.

"hey, you."
