"Who do you think will make it to the finals tomorrow?" Jade asks as we laze beneath an almost-foolproof Cotton tree large enough to block out any sunlight and unwanted heat.

Flower clusters have started to perish at this time of the year in comparison to their full bloom in March and April, producing telltale cotton tufts that blow throughout the area.

Cool and fresh breeze blow past our skirts unsurprisingly as our campus is located right where a small creek is. The scene makes me feel like those nostalgic scenes in animation films, especially with the petals shimmering heart-shaped leaves.

Our major classes are past us and we had all afternoon before we went on to our extracurriculars and free period classes.

My long hair freely dances with the wind as I plop my back against the tree trunk, a book nestled between my crossed legs.

"Don't know. . ." Skye utters, grimacing as she watches Jade pop a strawberry lollipop out of her mouth whilst her head is placed on her lap.

"What do you mean? Your boyfriend is on the boy's soccer team. Our school should be the obvious choice," Jade snickers, feigning offense. My ears perk up at the topic of the boy's soccer team and Theo comes to mind.

I huff out an annoyed breath, my brows pulling together.

I flip onto the next page of my textbook, determined to memorize the Quadratic formula and the different ways it is utilized in Mathematics, but I can't seem to get anything else in my head with the thought of someone else.

"Ola?"

A quiet hum leaves my lips, causing all the attention to gravitate toward me.

"What's with the face?" Jade switches the topic before Skye can even reply to her previous comment, and all of a sudden, my plan of staying unnoticed doesn't go as planned.

My mood hasn't been the best all day after waiting for Theo to reach out to me through a surprised text as he said, but none the wiser, he hasn't reached out nor shown his face which leads me to believe he didn't take my proposal seriously.

Regret fills me and makes me think if I hadn't brought up a stupid plan to seduce him, then maybe he'll finally see me as someone worthy of his attention. He hasn't said anything to me, yet I feel like I've been rejected.

I've never been rejected. Not ever. And I can say, this feeling doesn't feel good.

"Just this annoying paper we have to write for English," I mutter, hiding my face in the smell of rustic paper.

"But I thought it wasn't due until the following week?" Skye chimes in.

Of course, I almost forgot Kade was in the same class as me. He was also the reason I had to serve detention this week. The teacher had to move our seats because he wouldn't stop talking to me during a test. Now I have to sit in the back with the rowdy jocks.
