Yorknew City was busy, bustling with energy. The roads were flooded with merchants and hagglers, pointing at their trinket stands with a desperate passion. Most pieces were shoddy yet advertised as authentic relics. The nerve! The only noteworthy trinkets were imbued with nen, a display of the maker's skill.
Bisky squeezed her way through the mob, a sigh left her lips as she tried to find the Cemetery Building among the city's skyscrapers. The Hunter website had estimated the auction of the jewel to be on September 2nd. How could he even think of getting rid of the golden jewel in an illegal underground auction? Bisky could barely hold her form as she clenched her fists in anger.
She had one day to find Mr. Sol and convince him not to auction it. He didn't even need the money... why would he want to auction something so precious?
Walking leisurely, she sneaked past the guards and into the building. Her hair was braided neatly, adorned with shimmering pink pins that matched her puffy princess dress. There were mostly stern looking men in tuxedos inside, packed together into small groups as they exchanged credentials. One of them noticed her and approached, "My, my... Are you lost, child?"
"Quite the opposite. Have you, perhaps, seen Leon Sol?" Her eyes surveyed the man's body for a weapon. None visible. Suspicious considering these men were all affiliated with the mafia.
"And what would you want with my uncle?" Now that she looked at him, he had similarities to Leon. He had a dark trimmed beard and deep blue eyes, his suit clung tightly to his fit body.
"Just a business proposal-" Bisky's eyes left the man standing in front of her to follow the movement of the others, they were all gathering to the left end of the room, going down a large set of stairs while chattering. She took a sideways step to follow them, Leon Sol was nowhere in sight. How suspicious... Had he sent someone else to oversee the auction?
A gloved hand closed around her slim arm, and she was being pulled the opposite way. "I know where he is. I'll be able to help you out, let's get a drink."
"But-" He pulled harder, she didn't move an inch. Bisky observed the last of the attendants disappear as they went down the stairs.
"If you're not here for the auction there are no worries about arriving late." That was a fair point. Bisky conceded and finally allowed the man to lead her to the bar, two floors up. "You know, my uncle told me he had a good reason not to come and asked me to take his place instead..." He pulled a barstool for Bisky and helped her up. She caught the bartender's attention and asked for two fingers of Scotch on the rocks.
"Excuse me, miss, how old are you?"
Her eyebrow twitched, "Old enough to have Scotch." Her white gloved hands sunk into her pockets to pull out a pristine looking passport, that she handed to the barman.
"Oh. I am so sorry Miss Krueger" He snapped the passport closed, nervously sliding it over the counter to her. "I'll bring your Scotch right away. What does the gentleman want?"
"Piña Colada, with a cute umbrella please." He hopped on the stool beside hers. "He told me a tiny little girl wearing all pink would most likely be looking for him."
"Is that so? It doesn't seem like your uncle likes you very much." She smiled at the bartender as he handed her her drink and took a sip.
"Yeah..." He sighed and twirled his striped straw with his hand. "I've gathered that much. What do you want from him?"
"I want him not to auction off the crown jewel of the Targonian set." She downed her drink, it barely stung.
He laughed, "Tough luck, Miss Krueger. It's already on the highly secured safe." He took a deep sip, leaned over her and whispered into her ear. "And even though they're saying someone will try to steal everything... the Ten Dons have it under control."
