Birthdays are dreadful (without you)

It had been 13 days since the new year had begun, 9 since winter break had ended for the pupils of Nevermore Academy, and 3 since Enid tried to hug Wednesday once more (she concluded it would be fine to as last time Wednesday even seemed to enjoy it).Although Enid was usually wrong, and the moment that the werewolf tried engulfing the goth in a pastel rainbow knitted sweater, it almost sent her into cardiac arrest (despite them dating for a week, after Enid confessed her feeling to Wednesday in a frenzy one night and she had somehow reciprocated them).

Though, 13 days into the first month of the year did have some significance, seeming as it was Wednesdays birthday.Appropriately, it had landed on Friday the 13th like the day she was born, as once mentioned when being asked by Enid if her name was Wednesday because she was born on a Wednesday (it wasn't the case and she was tired of repeating it to any annoying individual who asked).Perhaps Enid thought that that fact would get her to wake up a little happier, but it didn't, seeing as she didn't wake up at all.

The blonde, on the other hand, had already set a reminder for Wednesdays birthday, and the minute her alarm went off, she sprung out of bed, reached into her pink cupboard and pulled out a black box, that, without a doubt, stood out amongst her other things.Placing her feet into the comfort of some fluffy slippers, she wondered over to where her girlfriend was sleeping like a dead carcass and watched the girls blank expression as if she were to magically wake up at her presence.

Even to sleep, Wednesday wore her braids in strictly without a single strand out of place.Enid wondered if she had to redo them before bed every day and how she didn't have migraines all the time, but then again it was Wednesday so she probably enjoyed the tediousness and pain. Her sickly pale skin looked even more wan in the the early sun, which was just beginning to flood in, and her small body was tiny in the black covers that covered up to her chest. The main difference was the even bigger lack of colour on her face, as she wasn't wearing her usual maroon lip tint, and the small possible fact was that she looked slightly more approachable like this.

On her first day at Nevermore, when Wednesday stepped through the clunky, wooden doors of their now shared dorm, the girl was hesitant to see someone so different from her.Still, she dismissed that as it was Nevermore after all, no one was the same really. But maybe if her first impression of Wednesday was the one she was seeing now, with softer edges and no makeup on her face, she wouldn't have been scared shitless to just look at her, even though the other wouldve still probably been cold as ice in return.

"May I help you?"Wednesdays monotone voice spoke through her thoughts, her eyes fluttering fully open now yet their darkness wasn't fully prominent. "Holy shit-,"Enid squeaked, her own eyes widening as the girl in front of her stared back, as unbothered by this event as ever. She knew that the macabre girl was not easily fazed by things, and this had probably happened before in her life, but the blonde still froze up on the spot, trying to speak, but it was as if her vocal chords had been ripped out.

Wednesday rose an eyebrow at her struggle.Great,a sign of emotion from the most emotionless person ever, I'm definitely embarrassing myself, Enid thought."Happy Birthd-"She began to say but was cut short by her girlfriends sharp voice."No." Was all she answered with as she crossed her arms over her chest once more and her eyes closed again, leaving Enid back in Square 1.She pursed her lips together, opening her mouth to argue but decided against it when she knew that Wednesday didn't give enough fucks to argue with her.Her eyes wandered over to the present still in her hands.

"You can leave the present here,I'll open it later,ma chérie,"she whispered, a little softer than before, and when Enid turned to walk away she spoke again,"don't take it personally, I just need a few more minutes to prepare for todays dreadful events." Her lips were closed shut again, although it looked as if one of the corners was slightly tugging into a witty smile.Nonetheless, the lycan obeyed and placed her girlfriends present to the side of her mahogany bed.
