"I can't believe we forgot it was parent's weekend." Raven spat, pawing through her clothes.
Xavier and Cherry were already dressed, the convenience of the dress pants strewn on the floor allowing the boy to create an outfit with those and the sweater he had been given. Cherry was wearing a sundress despite the cold weather, although she did make sure to wear leg warmers and a coat.
The Poe girl, however, was struggling to find something to wear. It had been an incredibly long time since she'd seen her father, the last she'd seen him was when he was on the way out of the house to embark on some ridiculous 'mission' with Wednesday's Uncle Fester.
Fester and her father had always been close, in fact, it was them who brought the two girls together as babies. This came with its' downsides, though. The beloved Tio Fetido was notoriously absent, always off commiting some intricately webbed crime. Her father would usually accompany him.
This created the persistent illusion in her head that when he did show up, it was her sole job to impress him- to make him proud of her.
This is why, while her two other friends have been dressed for nearly twenty minutes, she was still deciding on which shoes would pair better with her carefully buttoned blouse.
She had chosen to wear the cream colored shirt her mother gifted her, pairing it with a knee length A-line black skirt and a pair of black tights. Her hair was held away from her face with a black headband, and for the special occasion of her father's appearance, her ears donned tiny pearls.
"Which shoes look better, Cher?" She held up her Mary Jane sandals with the flower cutout, and a pair of decrepit looking green sneakers.
"Um, definitely the sandals. Do you want leg warmers?"
"That would be nice, yeah. Are my eyes red?" She bulged her eyes, rolling the irises around for her roommate to inspect.
"Nah, you're good. What about me?" Cherry mirrored her actions, only to reveal bright red and glossed over scleras.
"Eyedrops."
"Fuck."
Raven pulled the leg warmers over her heels, finally ready to face her family.
"Okay, Cher, I'll try to sit with you at lunch. We can find each other after- wait, where did you say your parents were staying?"
"The Little River Resort. Yours?"
"I have no clue. They probably can't stay long."
"Yeah, mine either."
"Okay, Xavier, let's go." She grabbed the boys arm, ushering him to the door. "I love you Cherry, call me later."
"Bye! Have fun, lovebirds!" She sang.
"Don't call us lovebirds!" She snarkily matched her roommates singsong tone.
