After Simon left, Wille looked around his room, thinking of something to do. He remembered the toys that he brought from home, hidden in his wardrobe, and he hopped up from the bed with excitement. He collected himself, remembering to lock his door and pull his curtains shut, before he could play without having to worry. August had taught him to always make sure that he was in a safe environment where he couldn't be interrupted or seen, before he could fully embrace his regression, as it would be a disaster if someone with malicious intent saw him. Wille was thankful for August's concern and how he made him understand these things even while regressed, always gently explaining things to the little boy, so that he could keep himself safe in the few moments where he had to be alone while little.
Wille texted August, only sending him a crown emoji, their codeword for when he was little, as texting could be difficult. August liked to know when Wille was regressed, so he could check in on him or help when needed, but the crown emoji alone only meant that the boy was little, but doing okay on his own. Adding other emojis meant different things, like adding the fire emoji meant he needed help, and the frog emoji meant he just wanted a friend. If August asked him a question, he could just reply with a thumbs up or thumbs down.
Wille looked through the sportsbag filled with toys and tried to decide what to play with. He settled on two toy cars, one red and one blue.
"You're gonna race!", he exclaimed, giggling as he pushed the cars across the room. He cheered quietly when his favourite car, the blue one, won the race. He kept playing with the cars for a while until he heard a knock on the door.
He froze and hid the cars behind his back, not leaving his spot on the floor. Maybe if he was quiet, the person at the door would think he wasn't there and leave, he thought. It knocked again, this time he could hear a voice, "Wille? Are you there? It's me, Felice.". Wille's face lit up and he got up quickly, starting for the door. He unlocked the door as quickly as possible and was soon met with Felice's smile. "Hi", Felice smiled at him. "Hi", Wille beamed at her and hugged her. "I hope I'm not bothering you, you took a while to open the door.", she chuckled. Wille blushed and looked at his feet, "'Was playing", he mumbled shyly.
"Ohh what were you playing?", Felice smiled at him, entering the room fully now and closing the door behind her, locking it as that was the way it had been before. Wille beamed at the question and bounced on his heels, "Race cars!", he proudly said. Felice chuckled at the boy's excitement and sat down on the bed. Wille plopped down to the floor again and continued moving the cars around. After a little while he huffed and put down the cars, "Am bored!", he pouted and looked up to Felice. The older girl laughed, "What would you like to do then?", she leaned down to ruffle his hair.
Wille blushed and fidgeted with his fingers, thinking of what to do next. He began looking through the bag again until he found a dinosaur colouring book, which he held up triumphantly. He turned towards Felice and gave her a big toothy grin, "Colour with me?". "Of course! I always loved colouring!", she got on the floor next to him and smiled encouragingly at the boy. Wille got a box of crayons out of the bag and put it between them on the floor. They flipped through the colouring book together until they agreed on a page with a Diplodocus on it. Wille decided to colour the dinosaur in purple, his tongue poking out as he concentrated on colouring inside the lines. Felice was content with colouring the woods in the background in various greens, taking a lot of breaks to look at Wille, cherishing how happy her friend looked.
Felice was thankful that her friend trusted her so much with this vulnerable side and she swore to always support and be there for them.
They spent the rest of the afternoon colouring, giggling and talking. Wille told Felice about his talk with Simon and she couldn't help but cheer for him. She was so happy the boys finally talked again, seeing Wille so sad lately had made her feel helpless. Now, Wille seemed to be the happiest that she had ever seen him. Life was finally starting to go his way.
