Days later, Evergreen find a technique she thought can protect her mind. If she concentrated hard enough, she could calms down her thoughts, and with more practice she could get a state where she had no thoughts at all. It was hard not to think to anything, but it could be a protection. Of course this concentracion fell apart if she had to speak or listen somebody, but this was a good start.
Two weeks passed , and the mind reader didn't come back. She expected him day after day, but when she got a visitor, it was a completely other dragon. He was pale blue, almost white, with deep blue eyes and spikes. Only his wings was bright white, like liquid silver. And his front right talon was missing, she realized shivering.
He stared at her, and she bared her teeth.
"You seems familiar" Said the pale blue dragon.
"I am sure I had never met you, Lizard." She said slowly, threateningly. She thought about the anger of the icewing queen, wondering if she is mad about her enough to put blood price on her head.
"You are not a kind dragon, have somebody ever told you that?" He asked, and looked honest.
"You are the first one. I always fascinate my guests with my kind words, and you aren't exception." She said sarcastically. The male icewing just looked at her, thoughtful expression on his face. Evergreen realized a thing, and asked curiously.
"How the hell are you get in here at the first place? Scarlet hates icewings." He smiled at her.
"Let's say I am good at hiding and stealthing."
"So let's say you are a thief." She corrected him, nodding at the missing talon. "And there are very few famous thief in the icewing tribe. I only knew three, and there is only one in your age. You must be Silverthief."
"This is really fascinating. But please, call me Silverwing. You know, most dragon call me Silverthief, but my name is not that. So, now you know my name, can I ask yours?" There was something in his voice, and his handsome face, and Ever wanted to answer him. So she decided to told him, because she decided she can handle a thief, if necessary. She heard very little about him, but she was one of the best in his job. He was born in the palace, but he wanted a dangerous life instead. His family disinherited him, and he lost his place at the circles, becomed a criminal. He lost his talon when a second circle family caught him, and punished him that way. Even a criminal was in the hierarchy in some way in the ice kingdom. He had everything Evergreen didn't, but he gaved up on all. Evergreen hated him and respected him at the same time.
"I am Evergreen" she said and spread her dark green wings. When his face lit up with recognition, she knew she did a mistake.
"Queen Glacier would pay a very generous amount of gold for you."
"We both know you don't mean it. You didn't choose a life like that, to run back to your queen begging for mercy." She said, but only half sure.
"What if I changed my mind?" He teased her.
"Than I was glad to met you. Also, if that is true, you're not half as interesting as you seemed first, so really, it didn't worth the time to talk you." She turned her back to him. She didn't hear when he leaved, but that was his job, so she wasn't suprised.

She kept thinking about the icewing. After her meeting with Darktalon he was the only dragon who was able to distract her about the mind shield training. But she knew he wouldn't be back, she is came in the palace for treasure in the first place. It was an interesting meeting, but nothing more.
Or she tried to believe in that. But she wanted to meet him again. Wanted to look at his deep blue eyes, and wanted to have a chat with somebody who didn't hate her. She felt lonely, for the first time in her life. She wanted company. She wanted him to be around.
But she wasn't suprised when he didn't returned that night. Altough she was suprised she didn't saw him on his way out. Yet, at least.
But the next night, she woked up for a feeling someone watch her. And when she opened her eyes, there was he, watched her with uncertain expression. There was no gold or treasure with him.
"No success to get in the treasure room?" Evergreen joked awkwardly, trying to hide her pleasure to see him again.
"I changed my mind about that part. I decided to take something else with me" He said, and showed a key in his left talon.
"Where did you get that?" Evergreen gasped softly.
"I just found it on the ground, and I come to try if it works for your cage" He answered, and winked. He put the key in the hole on the bars, while he relied on his wings, spared the missing talon. Evergreen watched suprised that he moved like he always used his left talon. And a moment later, the bars rose up with a soft frictional sound. Evergreen slowly walked out from the cell, and looked around. There were no guards in sight. Her manners took care of them.
"I will go first, and I will let you know, if you can come" Whispered Silverwing, and she nodded.
They walked in silence, Silverwing checked every corridor, and signaled Evergreen when there was no one in sight. He only saw two patrols, and they can avoid them easily. And suddenly they were out in the empty arena. Maybe the prisoners on the coloumns can spot them, but they couldn't do anything about it. And it was around midnight, with only one moon in the sky. They were lucky though Silverwing would say he was a proffesional.
They took off in the air, but fly low. They flew until sunrise, then rest at a cave. The sky palace was so far away they can't see it anymore.
"This will do it, right?" Said Silverwing. Evergreen nodded, tired. She didn't fly that long before that. She didn't ever fly before. She collapsed on the ground inside the cave, and falled asleep. When she woked up, it was midday, and the sun was high in the sky. She can't see Silverwing anywhere, and started to search him. But as he stepped out the cave, and the sunlight reached her, she stopped, and just stood there, enjoying the sunbath with closed eyes. She heard a low giggle, and opened her eyes. Silverwing stood in front of him, in shadows.
"I had never seen any icewing who love the sun in my life" He said, but not like trying to hurt her.
"You never seen any dragon like me, so watch me closely, because you won't see later neither." She replied, and spread her wings a little to catch more sun. He blinked suprised, but said nothing.
"Oh, You wait me for a tearful thank you for bringing me out of that awful place? Then I have to dissappoint you, because I am not like that." Evergreen said with closed eyes. "But thank you" Said a moment later, without opening her eyes.
"I did it for the blood price on your head" He said. Now Evergreen looked at him slowly, and bared her teeths at him threateningly. "Calm down, I just joked, your welcome" He said quickly.
"You won't be able to overcome me anyway" She snapped, than just watched him, and can't trust him entirelly. She wanted to, but she didn't live for that long because she just trusted the first handsome dragon whom she met.
"Why did you helped me?" She asked instead.
"I... I am not sure. I just saw you there, and that didn't feel right. Queen Glacier want you because she thinks you know where is the first deserter icewing since Prince Arctic. This is so rare, because the Icewings always catch these dragons. But Snowberg just disappeared, and we never heard about her more. But anyway, my point is that your mother's sins aren't yours. You shouldn't be punished for them" He didn't noticed he thought aloud.
"I know where is she. She is dead." She snapped. "I don't know how that happened, I only know it was in the arena."
Silverwing didn't say anything for that. "We should go inside, they might be search after you."
