Back at the Mystery Shack, Gideon showed Pacifica the envelope. "You got a date? Gideon Pines did?" She smiled. "Wow, Gid, you must be a real ladies' man!" Gideon smiled and rolled his eyes. "It's just one date, Pacifica. Don't freak out," he explained. Pacifica raised her hands up. "I can't not freak out! My baby brother is growing up!" She shouted. Gideon rolled his eyes once more. "I'm not that little anymore," he said. "Aw," Pacifica gave Gideon a short noogie. "Kids, dinner is ready," Bud called. The siblings turned their heads in interest and ran to meet their uncle in the dining area.

Gideon opened the door to the ringing of the doorbell. Behind it he spotted Mabel Gleeful, dressed in a teal sleeveless dress, and, as usual, had her headband with a broach in it. "Hi, Gideon, are you ready? My brother's giving us a ride to the restaurant." She said casually. Gideon nodded with a smile. "Ready as I'll ever be," Mabel smiled sweetly and grabbed Gideon's hand. She led him off to a black car, where Dipper was behind the wheel. "Woah, you can drive?" Gideon asked Dipper in wonder. He nodded, bored. "Yes, my sister and I both paid for early lessons," he said off-handedly. "Now get in the car."
Gideon gave a glance at Dipper and climbed in the back of the car, next to Mabel. Dipper wordlessly started driving toward into town.
A while later, Mabel shouted out, "Look, we're here!" Dipper let out a sigh of annoyance, and parked his car. "Get out," he ordered. He pointed at the car door. Mabel grabbed Gideon's hand and they left Dipper's car. Mabel led Gideon into a restaurant named "Sapphire Diner." Gideon looked around. "Wow, this place is really fancy," he said to Mabel, who smiled and waved it off. They sat down at a booth toward the back of the building. "Well, my brother and I are very successful," she said, and dropped the subject.
"Yeah, what's up with your brother? He seems kinda..."
"Grumpy? That's because he is. Like I said, he just likes to pick on people," Mabel interrupted, and she smiled at the reference of the show. Suddenly the door rang the cheerful bell attached to the doorway, and Dipper came in. Mabel apparently didn't notice because she just kept talking. "Here's a menu," she mentioned, and she handed him one. Then a waiter came up to the two. "Ah, Mabel! What will we be having today? The usual?" Mabel rolled her eyes. "Yes,yes, Gideon, what do you want?" She glanced to Gideon, who nervously pulled at his collar. "Um, I'll have..." He glanced over at Dipper, who was watching the pair. "Um..." He trailed off. Mabel waved her hand in front of Gideon's face. "Um, hello? Yoo-hoo? Gideon?" He snapped back to reality. Mabel nervously chuckled. "Sorry, it's his first time," she explained. "He'll just have lobster," she said to the waiter, who wrote down their order and walked off. Mabel smiled at him. "Always hard the first time, isn't it?" She laughed with a sugary sweetness that almost seemed fake. "So, what have you been doing all summer? Find anything interesting?" She glanced at her brother anxiously. He was in his usual suit, arms crossed, a bored look on his face, yet he continued to stare at them. "Actually, yes. I found a journal in-" Mabel stood up. "I'll be right back," she assured sweetly. Then she left the booth and headed toward the bathroom area.

Mabel walked into the girl's bathroom and checked all of the stalls.
Good. There's nobody here.
She opened up the last stall in a row of about seven, and went inside. She pressed the automatic flush button, and it made a beeping noise. Part of the lock to the stall burst open, revealing a keypad. She looked around, and typed in the code "0-6-1-8". The toilet turned around, revealing a room filtered with red, and her brother waiting for her. "Brother," she said to Dipper. "Sister," he replied.
"You heard it too, right?" Mabel said to her twin.
"Of course I did, I was sitting three tables down from you."
"He has the journal, brother."
"Don't worry, sister, soon it will be in our possession, and we will rule this town."
"And I'll never have to be that sickly sweet girl pretending to like that wimp ever again!"
The twins smiled as their amulets glowed. Dipper reached to touch his, attached to his tie. When he placed his hand on it, the glowing soothed. "Soon. Very soon. Unfortunately, sister, you'll have to get back to your date," he mentioned to his twin. Mabel rolled her eyes and also calmed her amulet on her headband. "They want to be used, brother. Can't we just do it now and get it done with?"
"No! We have to wait, you must gain his trust. We will take care of him in a secluded place."
"Fine. It's just been so long since we've properly used our amulets," she said, and that ended the conversation. Mabel pulled a strand of her hand behind her ear and went back to the passage. She reentered the password, which shut the passageway and closed the keypad.
I must wait, she said to herself.
