Summary: Natsu is new to ice skating and gets some help from the pretty employee, Lucy.

Natsu pov:

After a whole week of whining and crying, I finally agreed to take Happy to the ice rink. One of the many winter themed things he wanted to do with me while winter lasted. I tried everyday to get him to stop by using fish as a bribe, but it would only work for a couple of minutes before he would go back to annoying me. I hated the phrase 'Come on Natsu! It's winter time and we haven't done a single winter-related thing!' that Happy would repeat over and over again. Even now it still ringed in my head still.

I was so happy to not have to hear that phrase over and over again. Gray wasn't helping much either by showing off, just thinking about Gray pissed me off. He thinks he's so great with his high tolerance with the cold and his blooming love life.

So there I was. Putting on a pair of ice skates while Happy waited for me on the ice with his bare paws. Out of all the things that Happy could have done, why ice skating? Did his paws even fit any skates? It wasn't that cold inside the arena and there were barely any people. I sighed and slowly started walking towards Happy.

"Come on Natsu! It's fun, I promise," said Happy with a cheeky smile. I felt a slight frown tug at my lips at Happy's comment, but couldn't help but sigh in defeat.

"Stupid Gray, putting all these ice and snow ideas in Happy's head- Woah!" As soon as I stepped on the ice my feet lost all balance and I fell right on my ass. "What the-? This is impossible!"

"Hahaha! It's okay Natsu! You'll have fun!" Yelled Happy as he laughed at me from afar. "Ah shut up, Happy! You'll see! I'll be skating laps around you in no time!" Or so I said, but the ice had other plans.

Time and time again I would try to get up but would just fall on my ass over and over.

I managed to grab onto the wall and lifted myself up. "Damn ice..." I cursed. I then heard a small giggle from behind me. That damn Happy! I'm gonna smack him so hard he's gonna go flying off the ice!

"It looks like you need some help there."

I turned around with an angry look on my face and froze. There, right in front of me stood the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. She had long, golden hair that was tied up with a blue ribbon to the side. She also had on a blue jacket and a white skirt with tights under. She must be conditioned to the cold to be going around in a skirt. On her right side above her chest was a small name tag that said, "Lucy."

"Yes, that's me."

I felt my face heat up at the fact that I said her name out loud. "Um, y-yeah it's my first time on ice," I said. Why was I so nervous?! Was it because she was at the very least able to stand on the ice?

"That's okay! It's my job to help anyone that needs me." Lucy smiled and grabbed my hands and started skating backward to guide me forward. Her hands were cold but she skated with such gracefulness.  "Are you sure? I'm a guy and I'm not very gentleman like if that's what you're expecting."

Lucy laughed and shook her head. "I'm sure, plus you seem like a kind person. So, did you come alone?" She asked. Her big brown eyes were making my heart speed up by the minute. Her lashes were so long and her skin was flawless...Gah! What am I thinking? I just met her! She probably thinks I'm some creep now.

"I came with my friend, Happy, but he seems to be having fun over there," I said, pointing Happy out. Lucy looked over and looked back at me. "The blue cat?" I nodded. Lucy laughed and grabbed my hands tighter. "That's nice. Oh, I never got your name," She said.

"Natsu. My name's Natsu. Do you skate professionally?"

Lucy laughed. "That's a nice name. Rolls off the tongue easily, but no, I don't skate professionally, but I'm good enough to keep this job," she said.

"I think you're great."

Lucy stopped in her tracks and blushed. I realized that I had said that out loud and felt as if my whole body was on fire.

"Ah, sorry-"

"No, no, it's okay! It just caught me off guard. Why don't I try teaching you to skate now?" she said warmly. Lucy then grabbed my hand again and slowly helped me skate around the rink as we laughed and cracked jokes at each other. I had never felt so comfortable with someone. I had never felt so warm inside. I didn't want this day to end. I wanted to see Lucy again and talk until I lose track of time.

And we did lose track of time.

"Shoot. Sorry, Natsu, but we're closing soon but I would love to see you again, so here." Lucy then pulled out a pen and wrote her number on my other hand. "Make sure to tell me it's you, okay? Bye Natsu, and thanks for making work interesting!" Lucy then stepped off the ice and went off to close the arena.

I stood on the ice frozen in place "Bye Luce! I'll see you later!" I smiled to myself as I felt my face heat up again. Looking down at the number she had written on my hand I smiled and then smirked. I'll beat Gray! In strength and love life!

Happy then slowly skated over to me and chuckled.

"You lovvvee her," said Happy.

"Stop rolling your tongue Happy!"
