For the last couple of days Natsu had been avoiding Lucy for no apparent reason. He wouldn't go on quests with her, or burst into her room as much, and would always become quiet and nervous around her. Lucy began to worry about the dragon slayer's actions, but every time she would try and help, he would always find a way to escape. Maybe he was sick? No, that couldn't be it because he would be fine with Erza, Lissana, or even Gray! So was it Lucy's fault?

"Natsu! Please, can you go on a job with me this time?" Lucy pleaded.

"Eh? Why? You seem to be doing fine on your own," he stated. The truth was that Natsu did want to go on a quest with Lucy. He wanted to go on a quest with her forever, but recently he had been getting a funny feeling in his stomach. A knot that wouldn't go away when she was there.

"Everything is much faster with you Natsu, plus..." Lucy grabbed Natsu's warm hands and held them close. "I miss going on quests with you..."

Lucy and barely whispered the last thing, but Natsu heard her. Natsu felt a tug at his heart and sighed. How could he say no to that face?

"Fine, I'll go."

Lucy's face lit up and they went off on their newest job for the guild. The job seemed easy enough. Just find and get rid of a woodland giant. Easy right? Natsu could burn as much as he wanted and Lucy wouldn't get hurt. And best of all, they would most likey get the full reward!

Lucy was looking forward to this! Something told her that this job would be important!

Anyways, during the fight though both Natsu and Lucy got smacked. Their teamwork was off and when Lucy attacked Natsu did also, but would burn the spirits instead. Lucy seemed overly focused on getting Natsu's attention during the fight and Natsu seemed to be ignoring her on purpose.

He would usually just sneak off but this time he was being straight forward about not wanting to speak to her.

"Natsu! What's wrong?" Yelled the mage from the other side of the giant.

Natsu simply pursed his lips together and punched the woodland giant so hard it went flying. "Take that you giant." Natsu said smugly. Lucy smiled and patted him on the back. "Nice one Natsu! See? We make a great team, right?"

But when Lucy looked up at Natsu his face was slightly red and he wasn't saying anything.

"Natsu?"

"We should find somewhere to camp. It's getting late."

"Ah...ok..." Lucy said, slightly disappointed that Natsu hadn't said anything about them being a good team. Was it something she said? Something she did? Why was he acting this way?

Natsu and Lucy set up a small campsite with the two of them sitting quietly next to the fire. Neither of them said anything but they were both staring at each other.

"Natsu...?"

"Yeah, Luce?"

"Did- did I do something to make you angry? Was it something I said? I- I know I can be a whiny and kind of a brat but I need you to know I don't mean any of those silly things I say! So please! Stop ignoring me Natsu! It's going to be the end of me!" Natsu finally turned to look at Lucy and his eyes went wide.

The one thing he never wanted to do.

Make Lucy cry.

Lucy was absolutely sobbing and Natsu was panicking.

"Lucy I wasn't- I didn't mean to ignore you! Well... I was but not why you think...uh...this is going to be really hard to say but here goes nothing. Lucy, everytime I see you I get a knot in my stomach that makes me want to hide and calm down, but...I don't have the feeling. And when you touch me, even if it's just a pat on the back, the feeling of your hands makes my whole body heat up to the point I could be burning with a fever. Your smile, laugh, eyes, everything! It makes me feel so nervous but happy, and I guess the reason I was ignoring you was because I don't understand what these feelings mean and I didn't want to mess things up. So please, don't cry Lucy-"

Natsu was cut off by a pair of pale hands around his face, and soft lips against his rough ones.

That was it. Natsu had snapped. His whole body succumbed to Lucy's warm lips and his whole body was on fire. He wanted more, oh so much more from Lucy, but for now, a kiss would be more than enough.

Lucy pulled away gasping for air. Her face was dusted pink and her eyes glassy.

"All those feelings. All this time you felt the same way. Natsu, you idiot...that feeling is called love. And I love you too."

At the sound of those words Natsu beamed and quickly kissed Lucy again, never wanting to let her go again.
