Chapter 2 Soemthing new

I could hear the rest of the household wake as I was eating my breakfast. I had woken up before the staff and decided to eat my breakfast in the kitchen. "Miss Conta I would have made breakfast for you." Said Jessie our cook. "Jessie it's Nicola, you know I don't like you calling me that" even though my father had given us his name it was unusual for a damphir to have a royal name but my father insisted my other and their children have his name. Jessie gave a small laugh and started the cooking humming as she went. "Will the others be wanted breakfast miss?" Asked Jessie, she was a lovely cook in her 50s a damphir who had wanted to raised her children instead of fight, she had been around since I was a kid I use to play tag with her sons when they visited during break. I looked at my watch before answering "They won't have time the car the queen sent will be here in 10 minutes" I said getting off the counter and placing my dishes in the sink. Jessie came up to me and gave me a hug "Take care of yourself in America and don't get into too much trouble" she laughed looking up at me "Your parents would be so proud of all of you" she smiled embracing me again.
I tried to hold back a tear escaping my eye as I gave her other hug and left to go back upstairs.

When I entered my room I could still here Will in the bathroom. My uncles home was huge so Izzy had never left and since I was her guardian I didn't either. She had married Able as soon as I had changed back which meant Will lived here too. I went over to check my bags as Will came out. His brown hair was spiked up after he had rubbed it dry, you would see a tinge of dark red when the sun hit it, his brown eyes were focused but loving as always.
"You ready for the big adventure?" He asked softly coming up behind me and holding my waist. I was a head shorter than him so he could fit his head perfectly on mine. He was in dark blue jeans and a black t shirt with a black jacket, I was wearing almost the same. We tended to match without even realising it. I sighed looking at the autumn leaves fall from the trees. "As ready as I'll ever be" I smiled breaking away from him to put on my leather jacket. I picked up my stake from my dresser and handed Will his and we both tucked them into our jacket pockets.

We meet Izzy downstairs her long black hair curled down her back standing out against her bright red coat. She was all sharp and dark her eyes an amazing sea blue, her mother was an Ozera cousins to the queens fiancées late parents. Able stood next to her tall and ready, Will and him had become good friends and Able liked to join Will training sometimes. Just as we set our bags down my aunt and uncle entered the room. I could still never get over how much my aunt looked like my mother they weren't related but they both had the same dark hair where my mothers eyes were brown Elizabeth's were blue. "I can't believe my darlings are all leaving the nest" she said trying to hold back tears, she had always treated my brothers and I like her children she was always the mother i needed when I needed her.
"Now now Lizze they will be fine, we had an amazing guardian as a niece and one day nephew in law they will take care of everyone" beamed my uncle James placing a hand on his wife's shoulders. I blushed slightly at the nephew in law comment, it was something Will had wanted especially after he almost lost me.

As we were saying goodbye James pulled me aside while the car was starting to be loaded with our bags "Nicola Conta, my wonderful niece" he smiled placing his hands onto my shoulders. "I couldn't be prouder of the wonderful woman and guardian you have become, my brother would be so proud of who you have become." I froze a little, they wouldn't be proud of their daughter who became the thing that destroyed them, even if it was only for a short time I was still a monster. "Don't think that Nicky, you were a strigoi for a month no longer your parents would still be proud" my stomach twisted at the world strigoi. It made me feel sick. James not knowing this carried on. "I was meant to save this until your 21st birthday but since you will be leaving us I want to give it to you now" he reached into his pocket and pulled out a blue velvet box. "This belonged to your grandmother, this was hers who she gave to her guardian before her guardian left to raise her children, Yeva" I did a double take "Yeva? My mothers mother?" I asked dumbfounded I had only met her when I was very young we had never been back to Russia after my mother died. "Yes" James smiled taking a beautiful gold necklace out of the box with the Conta family seal on it. "That is how your parents met Yeva was grandmother Lilly's guardian, mother always said you and Izzy remind her or her and Yeva." Said James before placing the necklace around my neck. It sat just above my cross.
Uncle James pulled me into a hug tears falling down his eyes "Be safe, I love you, as do your parents" he chocked a little. I pulled back keeping myself together as best as I could.
I sat in the car holding my new necklace as the car drove down the road, heading towards the unknown.
