Chapter 9 A New Threat

We were rushed back to the royal building as fast as we could go without making too much of a show.

As soon as we were in the action started.

"I want this whole place locked down no one is to come in or out without the Queens approval." Said Rose giving orders to all her guardians.

"I want this letter investigated immediately, limited staff on site and nothing and no one is to go to guardians Conta's room without guardian Belikov's approval." Said Lissa instructing all of her staff.

"No one but guardians may stay in the mean time, all staff are to leave immediately and the palace is to be searched." Said Lissa heading to her office with all of us following behind her including the girl who delivered the message.

"But your majesty what about meals and guardian hand over?" The girl asked frantically following Lissa.

"We can do all our own cooking and guardians Belikov and Hathaway will hand pick every guardian allowed in and out, now Jessica please go dismiss all staff from the grounds and follow them please I can take over any paper work and anything that is urgent can be dropped to the front office and handed to me." Said Lissa giving no chance for the girl to argue.

Jessica nodded and hurried out of Lissa's office closing the door behind her. Leaving just us in the room, it was silent for a moment.

"Who has threatened me?" I asked looking to Lissa, Will was behind me his hand on my waist.

Lissa didn't answer she just handed me the note. I took it and read it quickly. Words couldn't form in my head, I couldn't understand it.

"They want me dead because I'm a threat?" I asked looking up from the note.

Will's hand tightened around my waist I could see Izzy and Abel's faces go pale. Dimitri came over to me and took the letter from me.

"They think a child from her would destroy our way of life? That's ridiculous all this would do is improve our way of life." Said Dimitri looking to Lissa.

"I agree Dimitri but we can't risk it, we need to put Nicole into hiding possibly even Rose." said Lissa with regret in her voice.

"What?!" Yelled Rose and I at the same time. Rose grabbed the note off Dimitri and read it.

"They obviously don't know about me so I'm not going into hiding with Nicole I'm staying to protect you." Said Rose leaving no room for arguing.

"I can't go into hiding I'm a guardian i have to stay and protect Izzy and the baby." I said looking at my best friend, fear in her face, for her child, for me, for all of us.

"Nicole I can keep them protected but we need you and Will in hiding, they obviously think your child would disrupt our world." Said Dimitri looking over the note again.

"Dimitri I'm not pregnant! There is no threat!" I yelled.

"Nicole we can't take that chance. We need to protect you all." Said Lissa coming over to Nicole. "Someone obviously leaked about you and until we find that out we need everyone safe and you could buy Izzy and the baby at risk." Lissa said gently.

I froze. Izzy and the baby change everything I would do anything to keep them safe.

"Ok I'll do it just promise me Lissa please promise me you will keep them all safe." I said my eyes watering slightly why the hell was this happening.

"I promise." Said Lissa hugging me gently.

"What's the plan?" Asked Will finally speaking up, his hand stayed steady on my waist but I could feel his pulse raising on my back. He was scared this was our worst nightmare coming back.

"I suggest we get Nicole out of the country possible with our family in Russia, it isn't well known that we are related as we don't look too much alike and our family will protect her." Said Dimitri in guardian mode he was faltering a little since I was family.

Will nodded then turned and faced izzy and Able

"Able I ask please dismiss me to protect Nicole. I'm sorry I can't help protect your family but I need to protect mine."

Able let go of Izzy and walked over to us, he pulled Will into a hug.

"Protect her brother keep her safe and we will end this quickly." Whispered Able.

Will nodded trying to keep his guardian face on. Abel smiled at him then turned to face the queen.

"Lissa I asked if I could take my wife and leave court as well, I would like to take izzy to our family country home here and stay hidden with my family."

"Of course" Lissa said

"I will call my mother and inform her of what's happened I'll also call Nicole's brothers for extra protection." Said Dimitri heading out of the room.

"I'll escort you all at sunrise when everyone is asleep we can't risk people seeing you leave till then." Said Rose her body was tense she didn't like this I could see it in her eyes.

I looked out the window sunrise wasn't far maybe 3 or 4 hours away. I had stayed silent for a few minutes trying to compose myself and work out what to say and how to react. I never got the chance.

"You all better pack now and get ready." Said Christian he had stayed silent all this time his worried eyes wandering from Lissa to Izzy and Able.

Able and Izzy nodded quickly leaving Izzy looked like she was going to be sick. I nodded to her as she left.

"Nicole? Nicole?!" Said Rose snapping her fingers in front of my face

"Yeah sorry Rose." I said blinking a few times.

"I'm going to get some weapons for you and Abel I'll meet you both back in your room." I just nodded and started walking out of the room back to mine.

I had only just gotten my family back and I was losing them all again.
