Jungkook's voice called after her. "Wait, what's your name?"
She did not answer. She was already running, her bag bouncing against her back, heart hammering in her chest. She was late for class, and every second felt like a risk. She pushed open the door and stepped inside, bowing quickly to her teacher.
"I-I'm sorry, sir. I'm late," she stammered, barely able to meet his eyes.
"It's okay, Y/N, but try not to be late again," her teacher said kindly.
She hurried to her desk, dropping her bag and opening her books. She tried to focus, but the images of yesterday, of her father's cruelty, kept flickering in her mind. She listened to the lesson as best she could, writing slowly, head down, wishing she could disappear.
The bell finally rang. One by one, students left the classroom, chatting and laughing, unaware of the storm inside her. She stayed behind a moment, straightening her books and gathering her things. She was always quiet, always invisible. Friends had never come to her naturally. Her stuttering, her fear, and her cautious movements always kept people away.
When the last student left, she stepped out of the classroom. The air was warm and smelled faintly of asphalt and dust. She walked to the bus stop slowly, keeping her eyes to the ground. The streets were empty at this hour, just the faint hum of traffic in the distance.
Then they appeared. Three men in their twenties, laughing quietly between themselves, stepped out from the shadows. Y/N froze. She had learned to sense danger the hard way. Her stomach twisted and her hands trembled.
"Hey there," one of them called, a smirk curling his lips. "Come see something cool."
"No, thank you," she said, her voice shaking. She tried to step past them, but they blocked her path.
"We can even buy you some chocolate," another added, eyes glinting cruelly.
Fear made her legs stiff. She tried to pull her hand away, but their grip tightened. Her heart pounded like it wanted to escape her chest. "Leave me alone," she cried. "Please, just let me go."
They laughed at her, moving closer. Y/N struggled, panic rising until it became nearly unbearable. She felt trapped and powerless. Every instinct screamed at her to run, to fight, to scream, but she felt frozen.
Suddenly, headlights cut through the street. A black car skidded to a stop nearby. Y/N's heart leapt at the sight of four figures stepping out.
"Are you okay?" one of them shouted.
The men froze, looking between the girl and the new arrivals. Within moments, the four young men, aided by their guards, had rushed forward. The attackers were overpowered quickly, pinned to the ground before they could react further.
Namjoon's voice was calm but firm as he turned to Y/N. "It's okay now. You're safe."
Tears streaked her face. She nodded quickly, barely able to speak. Namjoon removed his jacket and draped it gently over her shoulders, shielding her from the cold and the lingering fear. She shivered, not just from the chill, but from relief that someone had finally intervened.
"Th-thank you," she whispered, bowing her head slightly. She repeated it again and again, almost afraid to speak too loudly, afraid of drawing attention.
The police arrived soon after. Officers checked the scene and took the men away. They examined Y/N briefly, noticing bruises and small cuts along her arms and legs. Y/N's chest tightened. Her father's voice rang in her mind: "Don't you dare tell anyone or I will make you suffer."
She stayed silent, unable to speak. Her lips pressed tightly together. The boys looked at her, their expressions a mixture of concern and patience. Their eyes were warm, protective, and yet intense, and Y/N felt both comforted and overwhelmed at the same time
