Chapter Two

At the Institute

Jace, Clary and Simon enter the Institute. Jace starts drawing a rune on his arm.

"I know. Trust me"says Clary to Simon "He's, like, burning himself"says Simon

Jace finishes and grabs Simon's hand to make him see the inside. 

"Buddy, what's going on, man? I'm not your type, man. I don't even... What the...?"says Simon "Where are we? What the hell? Clary is there a war going in that I don't know about?"says Simon "There is now"says Jace "I think my mother's at the center of it"says Clary walking away "You coming?"asks Jace

The three walk in the ops centre.

"What is this place? There's a lot of gear in here. What'd they do, rob a tech shop?"asks Simon

Jace walks to a monitor and shows the outside entrance with a man walking to the door.

"So this cold-blooded killer is gonna help us?"asks Simon Clary "He's not a killer. He's protecting us"answers Clary "Specifically, you. It's sort of our thing"adds Jace "Your thing? You guys have a thing?"Simon asks "He means Shadowhunter thing. That's what they do, protecting humans from demons"explains Clary "Demons, right. That makes perfect sense, 'cause there are demons running all around New York"says Simon "That is the first correct thing you've said all day

On the monitor shows a police oficer knocking on the door.

"Won't they find us?"asks Clary "No. Our wards will deter them. And the NYPD will do their typical mundane thing for a few hours and then the area will be clear"explains Jace

Alec and Piper walk to the group.

"What is going on? Why is there a mundane in the Institute?"asks Alec slightly angry "A Circle member followed him to fet to Clary"says Jace "A Circle rune, just like the guys that took my mother"adds Clary "Yeah, course Jace did not just said that"Piper days sarcastically "What exactly is a Circle member and why are they trying to kill us?"asks Simon "All we know is a long time ago the Circle led a revolt. A lot of Shadowhunters got killed... including my father"explains Jace

Piper grabs his hand to comfort him knowing that this a hard subject for him.

"And since the revolt we've been forbidden to even hear about the Circle"finishes Alec "But, how is that even possible? It's your history"asks Clary "Says the girl that didn't know she was a Shadowhunter?"asks Piper ironically "Yeah. Yeah, you're right. And now the only person who knows the truth is missing so I don't care about rules or what's forbidden. There's got to be someone out there who can tell us why they've taken my mother"says Clary "There is. You coming?"says Jace walking off "No. No, not you"says Jace seeing Simon walk with them "Hey, we're a package deal"argues Clary "There are runes all over the training room floor that would kill your mundane boyfriend"says Jace "He's not my..." "I'm not, like..." says Clary and Simon at the same time "We're, uh, just friends""Best friends"adds Clary "Yeah, and I'm tough. I can handle runes. So, bring on them. What exactly are runes?" "They give Shadowhunters out demon-fighting powers"answers Izzy showing her rune "So hot. The rune"says Simon and correcting himself one he sees Alec's glare "Don't worry, Clary. I'll watch over the best friend. In fact, I was about to make breakfast"says Izzy "I think the runes might be less lethal"says Piper teasing Izzy "I'll pretend I didn't hear that. Please excuse my siblings lack of manners. This is Alec an Dolittle sister Piper and I'm Isabelle"introduces Izzy pointing to her siblings when mentioned [let's just assume that Izzy is few months older than Piper. I don't know her real age]
