When they arrived at the school Noah pulled Stiles to the side, "just continue walking Hope, we'll catch up to you" he said. Hope continued walking but couldn't help but hear what Noah was saying to Stiles. She didn't want to eavesdrop but lately her powers have been a bit out of her control. Maybe it has something to do with how she got her and all that.
"Can you stay with her the first few days, or at least until she finds some friends" Noah said to Stiles, "yeah sure, but why?" Stiles replied "can't we just leave it at that?" Noah asked, hoping Stiles would give up with all the questions. "Sure" Stiles said, but there was something in his voice that made Hope believe that he wasn't done questioning.
Noah and Stiles caught up with Hope and they walked into the School. When they walked in everybody was staring at Hope. People knew that Noah was Stiles's dad so they were used to seeing him enter with his dad in his police outfit. But now they were with someone else, someone that they didn't recognise.
"Stiles, you can wait out here until we're done" Noah said. "Yeah sure," Stiles said.
Noah and Hope walked into the principal's office, and to be honest, Hope was kind of stressed.
"Hi you must be Hope Marshal, my name is Thomas" principal Thomas said with a smile.
"Hi," Hope mumbled. "And Sheriff, what might you be doing here?" Thomas asked. "I'm here to accompany Miss Marshal"
This was the first time Noah had referred to Hope as Miss Marshal, but it was probably because this was a school and he was the sheriff.
"Very well then take a seat" Thomas said, accepting that he wouldn't get any further details at the moment.
"So Hope, what school are you transferring from?" Thomas asked "The Salvatore school for the young and gifted" Hope said carefully, not knowing if the school could be found in a normal school in California.
"That's all the way in Virginia," Thomas said, kind of shocked. "I thought you said you were from New Orleans" Noah said confused. "I am, but The Salvatore school is a boarding school" Hope explained. "So you think you came from there?" Noah asked "I'm not sure, I took a break from school not long ago, and was planning to go back, but I'm not sure if I went back or not." Hope answered.
"Okay I'm confused, what's going on here" Thomas asked, sounding very confused. "I woke up in the woods a few days ago not really remembering anything much, and it looks like all my family's numbers don't exist anymore" Hope answered straight forward.
"I see," Thomas said, still sounding a bit confused. Thomas asked them a few more questions, and then gave Hope her schedule and locker number.
Noah and Hope walked out of the principal's office and saw Stiles waiting outside of the office.
"Alright kids, I have to go to work, Stiles show Hope around a bit," Noah said, directing the last part to Stiles like he wasn't sure he would do it. He then started to walk to the main entrance.
"Ok, what was that?" Stiles asked, offended. "He doesn't trust me" he continued, still offended. Hope chuckled a bit, "not many parents trust their kids when they are our age" Hope said, finding Stiles reaction amusing. "Oh yeah, do your parents not trust you then?" Stiles asked, not knowing about Hope's parents.
"They did," Hope said hesitantly. "Or at least my mom, my dad found it quite hard, he did when I was a child but as I got older it changed. Of course he thought he was protecting me, as most parents want to do." Hope said, trying to hold her voice steady.
"What do you mean by 'did'?" Stiles asked carefully. "My parents, passed away recently," Hope replied in a low voice. "Oh I'm sorry" Stiles said, not really knowing how to answer to that.
"So then what's your story?" Stiles asked. "What do you mean?" Hope asked. "Well my dad basically asked me to look after you, so there has to be something that happened" "uh.." Hope began, not really knowing what to say. "You don't have to answer if you don't want to" Stiles quickly added once he realised how rude his question was.
"Maybe some other time" Hope said, smiling a fake smile. "And you don't have to do that, look after me I mean. I can take care of myself" Hope said. "I don't doubt that," Stiles said, smiling. There was something about his smile that made Hope want to smile too.
Stiles had shown Hope most of the school. "So what class are you going to now?" Stiles asked, taking up a piece of paper. "Right now I have a free period and then History," Hope answered. "Wait, can I see your schedule?" Stiles asked, Hope handed it to him and he compared his with hers. "Funny, we nearly have the same schedule" he said, giving the paper back to Hope. 'Yeah funny' Hope thought, knowing that Noah had set this up. She knew he was concerned about her but giving them the same schedule? well nearly the same schedule. Stiles had lacrosse practices, when Hope had to choose one extra activity.
"Uh Hope, do you mind waiting here for a bit, my friend is signalling me to come over, it will only take a few minutes." Stiles said, kind of awkwardly. "Yeah sure," Hope said.
Stiles ran over to a boy with tanned skin and dark brown hair. His hair and height was similar to Stiles's, though he was a bit taller and Stiles was much paler.
Stiles's friend said something to him when he came up to him. Hope tried to not listen, but again, there was something weird going on with her.
"You wanna ask Derek for help? Why? Why?" Stiles said to Scott like it was the stupidest thing he had ever heard. "He's got the triskele tattooed on his back."
Hope's hearing connection severed when a tall brown headed girl walked into her. "I am so sorry" the girl said, taking up the books she had dropped. Hope just then realised what had happened and stopped focusing her hearing on the boy's conversation about some stupid tattoo.
"No it's alright, it was stupid of me to just be standing here" Hope said as she went to help the girl pick up her books. "I'm Allison, by the way," the girl said. The two girls stood up and Hope gave Allison her books back. "My name is Hope" Hope said, "So Hope, what class are you going to?" Allison asked, "History," Hope answered. "Hey, I'm going there too, we can walk together if you want" Allison asked. 'She seems friendly enough' Hope thought. "Yeah sure, just wait here for a second" Hope said, and Allison nodded.
Hope ran over to Stiles and Scott. "Hey Stiles, I'm gonna go to class, so I'll see you there?" Hope said. Scott looked very confused. "Yeah sure, see you there" Stiles answered, giving Hope a little smile.
"Wait, how do you two know each other, exactly?" Scott asked, wanting to know who this girl was and how she knew his best friend. Stiles looked at Hope not knowing what to answer. "I'm the daughter of his dad's friend" Hope answered without thinking. "Uh yeah, exactly" Stiles said quickly, not making the story any more believable. "I came here with my mom when I was young and that's how our parents met, they didn't see each other again when me and my mom left but they wrote letters and that kind of stuff" Hope said, saving the lie. Stiles couldn't believe how good she was at lying, and how fast she could come up with the lies, but it also kind of scared him how good she was at it.
"Alright, I'll see you in class Stiles" Hope said smiling as she walked away. When Hope and the two boys were talking, Lydia walked up to Allison. "Who's she?" Lydia asked, looking at Hope. "Not really sure, her name is Hope, she seems nice, and she is going to walk to History class with us" Allison answered telling her friend everything she knew about the new girl. "But what's she doing with Scott and Stiles?" Lydia wondered out loud. "I don't know, she asked me to wait for a few seconds and went over there" Allison told her friend.
Hope was walking back to Allison and saw that a girl with strawberry blond hair had joined her. "Hope, this is my friend Lydia, Lydia this is Hope" Allison introduced the two girls to each other.
"Hi" Lydia and Hope both said at the same time. "So Hope, are you new to town? Because I haven't seen you around, and I know everyone" Lydia said, "Yeah I just moved her two days ago" Hope answered. Lydia kinda reminded her of Lizzie, except Lydia wasn't saying anything mean to her.
