Rent was close to being due and Isagi needed the money. He opened his wallet and sighed at its lack of contents. Is that lint in the corners? He only had enough to get by for the following two months if he occasionally skipped a meal or two. Honestly, people shouldn't live like this at all... Luck seems to have smiled upon Isagi because he landed a job as a prison guard for a prison called Blue Lock maximum security prison: home of the world's most notorious serial killers. Praise the gods! As he approaches the entrance gates, Isagi beams.

Surprisingly, he was accepted for the job on the day of the interview. The prison must have been desperate if they recruited him this quickly. However, could he complain? If they're desperate to hire, he's desperate to make money. Some say don't take a job if they're hiring people like this, but beggars can't be choosers and Isagi is the former.

The guards let him in after confirming his identity as the new guy and handed him two sets of the same uniform in case he lost one, then he still has the other. In addition to this, they gave him a flashlight, handcuffs, a nightstick, and a taser. He was instructed to put the uniform on before beginning his training. After putting on the uniform, he moved around to check the fitting of the uniform and found it to be a good fit.

"Not bad, new guy. Does it fit you well?" A man with reddish-brown hair and green eyes who was already in uniform was waiting outside the door for him to finish getting dressed. He had a stoic expression on his face, hand on his hip. On his left hand, he wore a pretty nice looking watch; on his left, two bracelets-one white and the other black. He looked well put together.

"I'm Sae Itoshi, I'm in charge of training you for the next few weeks," he introduced. Turns out, he's one of the closest people in rank to the warden. The two of them were walking around the prison while Sae was giving him the tour and introducing a few other guards: Kunigami, Aiku, Nanase, Kurona, and even his younger brother Rin.

"We don't tend to hire normal people here since... it makes things difficult," Sae said. Isagi wanted to question what he meant by this, but assumed they meant that he had no prior experience in prisons. He chose to keep his mouth shut because he didn't want to get on anyone's bad side on his first day.

During the tour, they reached the opposite side of the building completely devoid of prisoners out and about during their downtime. Each prisoner was housed inside of a cell with strong reinforced doors. The humming of the fluorescent lights was the only sound within this peaceful wing. Is this silence normal and where are all the guards? The walls, floors, and ceilings were all white. No windows. The doors that had been reinforced were similarly snow-white. Isagi felt the feeling of wanting to squint due to how bright the wing was.

Noticing his body language, Sae mentions to him that for the prison guard's safety, they aren't allowed to be here too long in this wing and are usually monitoring the wing via cameras and microphones. In the security room, Kunigami was sitting at the chairs monitoring the wing and watching Sae and the new guard. None of the prisoners seem to be looking past their small rectangular holes on the top center of their door either. No matter how guarded this place is, Isagi suddenly felt unsafe and uncomfortable around this area as if he shouldn't be here.

"Should we... be here?" Isagi asks. The silence felt like a calm before a storm and he wanted out as fast as possible.

"We have guards here send food and water to the prisoners on a food cart and it'll be placed on this hole on the side of the wall," Sae points to the side of the door which shows a small compartment that can only be opened from the outside and continues, "All you have to do is put the tray on the compartment, slide it in, and close the small door. You don't have to interact with any of the prisoners here. In fact, you may not ever see them since they're so quiet. It's almost like they're ghosts."
