Tails' (Boom) POV

《 Modern Sonic and Tails' house 》

I watched as my friend argued with his copy. He hasn't done much else since the other Sonic came back from his night run, resulting in nobody getting any sleep. The other kitsune didn't seem to mind, though. Speaking of the kitsune, where did he go?

I left the two hedgehogs, searching for my copy. Their house was actually a lot bigger than it looks. I wandered down the hall until I reached a closed door. It had a logo imprinted on it. The logo was a blue circle with two yellow tails on top, much like mine. I knocked on the door.

"Come in." I heard the voice of the other fox. I turned the doorknob and entered. What I saw left me in a state of awe. I entered what looked like a workshop. But the thing is, it looked nothing like my workshop. Computers lined one wall, while all sorts of tools lined the other. On one side, many gadgets such as hoverboards, rockets, cannons, and some other weapons were lined. In the middle of it all was a red biplane with the word 'Sonic' painted in bold, white letters. I could see the twin tails of my copy sticking out from under it.

"Wow." I breathed. "How did you afford all this?"

"One of the pros of being a hero. People pay you plenty whenever you fight Eggman. We usually donate most of it and use whatever's left. Can you pass me the wrench?"

"Sure." I grabbed the tool and was about to reach under the plane to pass it to him when he grabbed it... with his tail.

"Thanks. One last bolt, and... done!" He slid out from under the plane, his face sticky and black with oil. He grabbed the towel on the desk and wiped his face, but that made it even worse.

"You have a little something on your entire face."

"I know."

I noticed that his gloves were somehow untouched by the black substance.

"Special type of polymer I made. Nothing stains the gloves that way." He explained.

He looked at the open door:

"They're still at it?"

"Yep."

"Ok... want some mints? I can sneak some here without Sonic noticing."

One more thing we have in common. An addiction to mints.

"Sure!" He sneaked off towards the kitchen, leaving me to my thoughts.

My eyes gazed across the room, landing on a small portrait. I approached it. It seemed to be an old photo. It showed his copy and his brother, only shorter and chubbier. Behind them, was a busted-up canister of some sort, crowded by little creatures that resembled rabbits and squirrels.

Cute.

I flicked an ear as I heard the sound of the other Sonic. I headed towards the kitchen to find a very irritated Sonic and a nervous Tails.

"Taaiils. What did I say about taking the mints?" He said with a scolding voice.

"Don't take the mints without permission." My copy mumbled.

"Put the mints down."

My copy did as told. When he did, Sonic's gaze softened.

"Sorry for that. You know I'm only worried about your health, 'kay little bro?" He rested his hand on the kit's shoulder.

"Yeah." Sonic then pulled him in for a noogie.

"H-hey!" The fox giggled. I then decided to make my presence known.
