Fort got home, took a hot shower and immediately went to sleep. His hands were cold, he turned off the AC in the room, covered himself in a thick blanket and went to sleep. He felt his heart tighten and was afraid he would suffocate so he woke up immediately. He tried to get over what had happened earlier, but he couldn't. He went to the fridge, took an ice pack and placed it on his head to cool down. He knew he had messed up, but what could he do. The next minute his phone beeped. His heart dropped, he knew it wasn't going to be something good. He told himself that he would check it later in the night, if he did it now he might be distraught throughout the day, so he didn't touch his phone once.
Peat was at his door crying profusely. He felt so bad about the whole thing, what started out as him wanting to get revenge for being stood up ended up being the most heart breaking moment for him. He wailed like a child whose best you was taken away from him. He even had the thought that if he could turn back time, he would have avoided the conversation all together "should I send him a text that I was joking? Will he come running back?" He knew he sounded ridiculous. Fort wasn't his to begin with. In this situation Peat thought he needed to be angry, frustrated but he was simply downcast. He left the door where he had sent the man packing to his room. His head was already aching from crying too much. He knew he had to make a decision and it had to be quick, not leaving any bad feeling behind. The earlier he did it, the better for him, so he picked up his phone and sent a message. He dropped his phone and slept off. When he woke up he was crying. That meant he cried in his sleep as well. He just couldn't help himself and ended up crying loudly, he checked the message he had earlier sent. He wanted to block his number, but they were business partners. He changed his name on his phone from "Fort" to "strictly business. It was torture for the both of them but they didn't quite care, Sunday passed as well with both of them moping in their rooms.
Fort didn't read the message at all, he kept the message as "mark as read" so he could read it when he was in the right state of mind to.
When Monday came, it was another meeting day as the blue print drawn by Peat was to be presented, Justin came alone to do it. Fort looked around and saw no sign of Peat. They worked on the project together and Justin left. On Thursday was another meeting and Fort was quite eager, maybe to see Peat just a bit but he was still absent. Fort swallowed his pride after the meeting and asked Justin where Peat was, the answer he got completely broke him. "Peat assigned himself to another project, since this one is already moving on successfully. Fort was speechless. The meeting ended and he went back to his office. It finally hit him, he called Peat his business partner, now they were no longer partners. It's been six days since they last spoke and the message he sent hadn't been read yet. He actually sent two, one on Saturday and another on Sunday, but Fort was too scared to read any.
On Saturday, he finally summoned up the courage to read the message. The first one went thus
" I understand you perfectly a
relationship isn't what you want
so I'll give you six hours to tell
me what you actually want us to
be."
The next one read
"I guess you don't have an answer
I'm sorry I hoped on you. Have a
nice life."
What kind of negligence was this, he waited a full week thinking he had thrown him away only to find out he gave him a chance. He took his car and drove straight to his house, when he arrived he banged on the door, Peat opened it and saw Fort. He looked at him eye to eye. Fort apologized for keeping Peat waiting, how he didn't see the message and other things. Peat didn't let him in and simple told him without an iota of shame or fear that he would be laughed at " Fort, I love you." That made Fort greatly surprised. He knew Peat was not that expressive with his feelings, so he knew that every word he was hearing, Peat meant it. He further added "so I want to remove myself from being a business partner to a nobody to you; Fort, let's End this,!"
