ORD MANTELL, PRESENT DAY
Tech finished packing extra supplies into a crate and waved to Wrecker.
"Yeah, I'm goin'." Wrecker walked over and lifted the crate over his shoulder and loaded it onto the ship. They were ready to go. Echo gathered everyone to the ship.
Wrecker and Omega were exhausted in anticipation of this mission. Meg got up early. Wrecker had stayed up late.
"Come on, you lazy bums." Echo patted their backs as they entered the Marauder.
At this point, Meg would have been begging Tech to let her fly but she was too tired to do anything and would most likely sleep until they arrived.❂ ❂ ❂ ❂ ❂
CORELLIAN SPACE, HOURS LATER
"Coming up on Corellia." Tech announced from his seat. He pulled them out of hyperspace, and now they were overlooking the dark planet. It seemed as cold as they remembered.
Rafa, Trace, Hunter remembered. I wonder how they're holding up.Tech flew them into the planet's atmosphere. Echo picked up Tech's datapad and checked the coordinates Cid had given them. They worked together and recalculated their route. Hunter walked out of the cockpit to get Omega just as she walked in, groggy-eyed. Hunter rubbed her head, and she smiled up at him.
"What's the plan?" She asked as she moved past Crosshair and near Echo.
"When we land, we'll take a look at what we have to work with." Hunter answered.Tech gently put down the ship in a hidden area about half a klick away from the listed coordinates.
"Alright, Tech. What've we got?" Echo asked looking out the cockpit window. Tech was already getting data on the facility ahead of them.
"It's a prison." Tech looked up blank-faced.
"Great." Crosshair grumbled.
"Honestly, why do we keep taking missions like this?" Echo asked, but everyone just looked at him strangely. "Never mind." He sighed.
"How bad is it?" Hunter leaned into the center of them. Tech stuck his face in his datapad again. A few seconds later he popped up and said, "It seems casual. They hold nothing worse than a common thief. It should be easy if we don't get spotted. Security isn't every equipped but it is expansive." Tech adjusted his goggles."Well, boys- looks like we're getting ourselves a Twi." Hunter crossed his arms.
"Yes!" Omega cheered silently and fist bumped Wrecker.
"So we're nabbing a prisoner to put her in a different prison? I'm ecstatic." Crosshair rolled his eyes. It was weird but they've done weirder missions. One time, Cid sent them to some uncharted planet to retrieve juice for some thrill-seeking snob. That was the worst mission they've ever had; by far. They smelled like that juice for three weeks. Echo felt the need to bring it up.
"Hey, at least we're not juicing." Everyone cringed at the memory of it. "Besides, I don't think she really belongs in prison." He added.
"What do you know?" Cross sneered.
"I don't have to know anything. It's called intuition. If you look at all the details, more than likely, she just a-"
"No thanks." Cross interrupted, "I don't care. Let's just get this over with."❂ ❂ ❂ ❂ ❂
The Batch had been wading through a few inches of water when Wrecker called out over the rain. "I don't want to come back here again. It's always something on Corellia! First droids- now rain!"
"Just like home!" Echo shouted.
"Hey- Kamino's not our home anymore!" Wrecker stomped and splashed water onto Crosshair's upper legs. He shook his legs, annoyed, "It was never home, as far as I'm concerned." The rain seemed to come down harder and louder.
"Yeah, well- you didn't lose anyone defending it!" Echo strained his voice trying to compensate for the volume of the rain.
"You don't know anything about what we lost."
Cross had to lift his voice more than he was comfortable with, but the anger he felt helped him.
