Wind whipped through the tall fronds of grass, drowning out the soft snores of the blue haired boy. Xingqiu looked over at Chongyun, eyes taking in his placid features as they drifted down to their intertwined hands.
Setting down his head on his arm, he turned his head up to watch the myriad scintillating stars, then back down to purloin a surreptitious glance at Chongyun again.
He was pulchritudinous.
Chongyun would always tease him for his ostentatious vocabulary, but now, staring at the boy in front of him, Xingqiu realizes that not many words could describe the extent of his beauty.
He watches as a firefly lands on Chongyun's nose. Could it get more cliche than this? Honestly.
He watches as it illuminates an ethereal glow on his lover's face, blanketing his diaphanous eyelashes with a warm, yellowish hue.
He watches as Chongyun sneezes once, twice, scaring the firefly away and tucking his head under his forearm, the gesture comparable to a puppy nustling its head into a pillow.
He watches as a shooting star barrels through the sky, a tear through boundless, black fabric.
He watches as Chongyun opens an eye to mutter a soporific "It's starting".
"I know, yun."
"Told you I'd be up."
