It was a new crime drama that he was filming, with a new script. There were some interesting scenes and Lu He was looking forward to acting, since it had been a month since the heart transplant patient role had ended.
His manager was calling and so he answered his cell. "Hello?"
"Hi Lu He. Things are getting hectic, so I'll get you an assistant for the days I can't join you on set. You should meet her today."
Lu He agreed, "okay, sounds good." Then he ended the call as he went into the makeup tent.
"I'll do your foundation and then the hairdresser will come to style your hair, before we finish your makeup. Have you finished in the wardrobe tent?"
"Yes." Lu He went and sat in the waiting chair.
The makeup was applied quickly and then the stylist came. He asked, "does it matter that my natural dark hair is under the blond?"
"No, actually since it's come in evenly, it looks good. We might have to touch up the blond eventually in some spots."
A woman walked into the tent, "your new assistant is here."
The girl came forward and nodded hello. "Let's talk first."
Lu He asked, "can you drive?"
She replied, "no, I don't have a license."
He looked at her from head to toe and said, "the clothes are ugly. Don't wear them."
The new assistant gave him an evil eye and began to plot how she could get back at him for embarrassing her in front of the hairstylist and makeup artist. She saw him put his phone down, as the hairdresser finished and moved out of the way for the makeup artist. Lu He put in his ear pods first, so she scooped up his cell. After changing some of the settings, she quickly put it back, before he picked it up again or noticed she'd taken it.
He scrolled through his cell phone, "why are all my posts black?"
Since he was wearing the ear pods, the new assistant said out loud, "you can't imagine what I did." She smirked.
He took out the ear buds and looked at her, "I didn't play a song."
She gasped, realizing she'd just confessed to messing with his phone.
"You're fired."
"Makeup is done, you can go now."
"Thanks." Lu He stood up and tried to leave, but the fired assistant grabbed onto his leg and forced him to drag her along the floor.
"I really need this job!"
"You should've thought about that before taking my phone. I'll tell my manager to find me someone else, when I return to Seven Cranes after filming. Go home."

Her ID card allowed her to remain on set, because no one had told security she'd been fired. For the rest of the day, she brought Lu He drinks and took care of all his wants, even though he didn't acknowledge what she did or even her presence. When filming ended for the evening, she called a cab and sat with the driver so that Lu He had the back seats all to himself. On arrival, he left her in the lobby, to go to his manager's office. Lu He didn't notice her following him.
He was waiting for the elevator when a guy bumped him hard, making him stumble. The guy didn't apologize or stop, but headed for the stairs. That's when he saw the fired girl follow the guy. Lu He was going to ignore it all, but then realized his cell wasn't in his pocket anymore. Whomever that guy was, he had just picked his pocket. Lu He sighed and went after the two of them. As he opened the door to the roof, he heard angry voices. It didn't take him long to find them.
"Give it back, I saw you take his phone!"
"Shut up bitch."
She grabbed the guy's shirt and raised her fist as if to hit him. Lu He took action and grabbed her wrist, while it was in the air and effectively stopped her. She stepped back, after releasing the guy's shirt.
"Who are you, a reporter? Should I call security and have you arrested?" He asked the stranger.
The guy thrust the stollen cell phone at Lu He and then ran off.
Turning to the girl, Lu He said, "you win. Come to work tomorrow." He let go of her wrist and walked away, towards the stair door.
Once back inside, Lu He went down one flight of stairs and then onto the floor so he could take the elevator down. He stopped in to see his manager.
"What's the name of the new assistant?" Lu He asked.
"She didn't introduce herself?"
"I forgot what she said and figured I should get her contact details. Did you know she can't drive?"
"Yeah, I gave her the taxi company that we have a contract with. She'll be handing in an expense report at the end of each week. Her name is Ru Shi, scan her WeChat QR code. I'll text you her cell number and email address."
"How old is Ru Shi?"
"Sixteen or Seventeen. I can't remember what she said. Does it matter?"
"No, I figured she was a little older than me. Since I'm here, what's the schedule for this weekend?"
Once he finished reviewing things with his manager, Lu He headed back out. In the hall, he saw Ru Shi walking towards him, while reading something on the screen of her phone. She almost bumped into him, but he stepped back.
"Are your eyes decorative?" He scolded with an annoyed tone, then smirked.
"S-sorry," Ru Shi said and gave a quick bow. "Have a good evening."
