CHAPTER #11

Jiayi knew the peace wouldn't last, but being with Qihe gave her a new sense of security. So when all hell broke loose, she wasn't prepared. Her father was like a tornado, he took out the security guard by the school gate, teachers were shoved out of the way and then he found her class. It just happened to be the one that Qihe wasn't in.  Mr. Wu slapped her across the face, while the other students scrambled to get out of the way of the crazy man. Then with one hand he grabbed Jiayi by the neck.  A girl from her homeroom, the spider girl, ran to find Qihe. But he was too late, Jiayi had been dragged out of school and off campus grounds.

Qihe texted his brother, who called him back right away. "Is Zan safe at school?"

"Yes, he just confirmed. What's going on?"

"Her father dragged Jiayi out of school. The cops are here, because he punched out the security guard and put a teacher's head through a wall."

"I'll pick you up, I'll be there in five minutes."

The twins raced to Jiayi's house, fearing the worst, hoping for the best. Lu He skidded his car to a stop, but Qihe was already out the door and into the house. Lu He thought it was lucky that the front door had been unlocked. Once inside he saw Jiayi's legs sticking out from a room's doorway. Heart thudding like it would burst out of his chest, he looked around the corner. There was no blood. He checked her pulse, it was strong and she was breathing. Probably had been choked unconscious.

Lu He went into the living room where Qihe was fighting her father. "She's alive, just choked out."

"WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU TWO?" Mr. Wu roared in a rage.

"He's Mafia Boy and I'm Mask Man."

"GET OUT OF MY HOUSE OR DIE!"

The twins worked together fighting the crazy man. But he was stronger and bigger than them. Then Mr. Wu had a knife in one hand and a smashed bottle in the other. Neither twin could comprehend when the man had picked up the weapons. Qihe tried to kick the knife out of his hand, but it just made the man angrier. Lu He was thrown into a wall, due to a kick, but got back up and rejoined the fight. Chairs got smashed, yet still they battled on. Suddenly it was like everything went into slow motion. The knife was closing in on Qihe, the smashed bottle end was coming at Lu He, both tried to save the other and then came the spine chilling scream. Neither twin could stop what happened next. Jiayi took the hit from the knife and bottle, as she protected the twins. Her father left the knife in his daughter and ran out of the house, still with the bottle remnants in his hand.

The twins were horrified. Qihe was shocked, but still took charge, "don't pull out the knife, get a towel or something! I'll drive. We need to get her to a hospital!"

Lu He found a clean white towel and wrapped it around the knife. Together with his brother, they carried her to the car. He sat in the back, putting careful pressure around the knife wound. Qihe jumped into the driver's seat and squealed the tires in his haste to get on the road. He drove recklessly, but got them to the hospital in record time. Jumping out he ran into the emergency department calling for help. Nurses came with a gurney and removed Jiayi from the car. Everyone rushed into the hospital. Lu He went to move the car. Qihe tried to stay with Jiayi. He told them her name, age and blood type. Then he was restrained by two orderlies as the doors closed.

Police that were already in the emergency department for another incident, came to see what was going on. They asked Qihe what happened.

"I'm not sure, my brother and I found her like this just off my school campus! I called her dad, but there's no answer."

"We'll contact her family. Try to stay strong son, you did the right thing bringing her here and not pulling out the knife."

He nodded and then saw Lu He. "I think she's in surgery, they just took her!"
