Epilogue

It's been a week. I haven't slept much knowing that one of my lovers was in a prison cell. Alejandro has been surprising support throughout this whole thing, probably because he knows I'm hurting. He's been coming over everyday after work, staying the night with me doing his best to play the supportive boyfriend part. I can't say I didn't love the attention but it was at the expense of someone else.

About four days ago I opened my shop. I couldn't make money if I stayed out of business or at least that's what I thought. One morning I found an envelope in my mailbox addressed to me. When I opened it, I found a wad of cash inside with a piece of paper inside.

There was no note, it was just a signed paper that said 'From El Sin Nombre'.

I thought of Valeria. Even though she was still in prison her operations were still in full force. Valeria always liked to give me money, it was her way of saying 'you don't have to work to make ends meet because I'm here. So close shop and spend time with me.' I guess she had plans sent in place in case something like this happened. In any case I had orders to fulfill for a wedding so I wasn't going to close the store just because a note implied I should.

I only had the store open for a few hours before I got a phone call on my personal cell phone. Not looking at the caller ID because my hands were full of flowers I answered the call.

"Hello." I answered.

"She escaped." Alejandro's gruff voice came through the phone. I dropped the bouquet I had in my hand and fell from my grip. Once a beautifully assembled arrangement now a clump of flowers on the floor.

"How?" I asked without realizing I just asked a rhetorical question.

"We don't know. I don't want to accuse my own men but someone from the inside released her." It was probably one of Valeria's men who infiltrated the base and released her. She was a powerful person, containing her was impossible.

"What are you going to do now?" I asked nervously.

"Nothing. We don't have a gunship or the man power right now to pursue her. We're resuming operations to protect Las Almas. That is unless Valeria starts trouble again." At least I'd no longer be in the middle of their jobs

"I get that." I said being sympathetic towards Alejandro's situation. Part of me was relieved she escaped but it was hard for me to hear about Alejandro's frustrations. In the middle of the problem once again.

"If you see her you can relay that message to her."

"She hasn't contacted me since she went to prison but I will." Not the whole truth but only because I knew that money wasn't directly from her.

"I'm sure you'll hear from her soon. Say next week, how about we go on vacation?" His words brought some joy to my heart. I've needed a vacation after everything and he needed one too after rebuilding his base for a week. This was something I would gladly accept.

"Let's do it."

"I'll make the plans then. I'll see you tonight mi amor. I love you."

"I love you too." I replied back with a smile before he hung up. I grabbed that bouquet I previously dropped on the ground and went back to work.

No one than an hour later my phone buzzed in my pocket.

'Are you alone?' A random phone number texted me. Years of dating a cartel leader I knew that this was Valeria. She was most likely using a burner phone to contact me. Would this mean I would see her soon?

'Yes.' I responded back simply. Now all I had to do was wait. If it was her I would see her soon and if it wasn't... guess I'm screwed.

I was so anxious about Valeria now possibly arriving at my place unannounced that I finished my order before closing up shop. I guess I was following her orders after all.

I walked into my house going down the hallway before passing my bedroom. I stopped seeing something out of place in peripheral vision. I froze before turning around and looking back in my room.

"Mi vida." A sweet voice greeted me when she saw me poke my head in the room. There she was sitting on my bed in all of her glory.

"I missed you." Was the only words I whispered to her as I ran into her arms and we fell onto my bed. God I missed her. Her familiar scent filled my nose as I dug my nose into her neck.

"It's been a week y/n." She was calling me dramatic but I didn't care.

"That was too long for me. Don't ever do that again!" I said.

"I'm sorry but I am the leader of the Las Almas cartel. There are risks to that. As long as you're safe nothing else matters." She said kissing my forehead.

"I need you to be safe too. Both you and Alejandro have such dangerous jobs. You could get killed." It was my worst fear. I was afraid of losing them in the army and I still am to this day.

"Me? Ha! Amor, have some faith in us. We made a promise to love and protect you. Even though me and Alejandro don't get along. We're not going anywhere."

The End For Now
