To say I was freaking out was an understatement. I don't remember anything from last night except when Alejandro showed up. I knew him and Valeria most definitely crossed paths and not in a good way. I also had yet to hear from either of them.

It was now the next day late in the evening. I didn't open the shop today, instead I paced around my house waiting for a phone call.

"Y/n." A voice called into my house after I heard the front door open. My military man came home and I doubt he's in a good mood.

"Alejandro." I greeted simply when I walked into the living room. However I couldn't control myself when I saw him and I went into immediate questioning mode. "What the hell happened last night?" I asked in a stern tone.

"No, we are not starting there. I am angry but we have to talk about it. If you answer my questions I'll answer yours." Oh so he wanted to play games tonight.

"Deal."

"How about you tell me how long you've known." So he's mad I knew Valeria's secret and that I didn't tell him.

"Two months after the raid on the son of La Arana." It was true. About a month after Alejandro and Valeria broke up I stumbled upon some information I shouldn't have found

"You knew she was El Sin Nombre for that long?" He screamed at me. I swear to God I was going to kill him.

"Ale don't raise your voice at me! We promised each other that giving information on each other's lives was wrong. So explain to me how I'm in the wrong for doing that?" God sometimes I felt like a child in a divorced marriage. Alejandro stared at me for a moment before letting out a groan and dragging his hands down his face. He knew I was right. Never once did I tell Valeria his plans and operations so of course her identity wasn't something for me to tell him.

"Yes I can! Alejandro when you and Valeria broke up you both decided on these rules. I'll only follow them. Our entire relationships and dynamic is based on trust, privacy, and communication. Are you seriously angry with me because of that!"

"I'm not angry at you. I'm angry at this situation and you know how she is. You should have seen the way she acted when being interrogated. It makes me so-"

"She only has an attitude like that because she knows how it angers you. She finds pleasure in it."

"Now where is Valeria?" It was my turn to ask the questions

"She has been detained for the time being until she can provide the information Task Force 141 needs. She's being held at my base"

"When will she be released?" I was on thin ice asking that question but I didn't care.

"I don't know and that shouldn't be your concern. Listen to me, I need you to lay low for the next few days okay. I'm bound to have to go on a mission and I won't be able to protect you so please be safe for me." Alejandro said switching the topic.

"This is not how I wanted this conversation to go." I said bitterly.

"You know I can't just set her free. And you can't get her released without doing something you'll regret!" I didn't like what he was implying. As if I were to pick sides and attempt something like breaking Valeria out of prison. As much as I would love to do that, I can't and he suggested I'd do so mad me want to punch something.

"I know that! Mierda Alejandro! I ask the simplest fucking question because I answered yours and you start to accuse me of things because you're mad. What the hell did I do?" I finally lost it, I was yelling at this point. The neighbors probably heard me because I was so loud. After I let it out, I stared at Alejandro wondering what he would do next. Surprisingly, he didn't yell back like I thought he would. He only sighed before sitting on the couch.

"Yes. I am angry, but not at you. It's been a rough week dealing with everything. Having you in the middle is not what I wanted. Mi amor we are on different sides of the battlefield and you are unfortunately in the crossfire." He sighed in a defeated tone. Looking at him now I noticed he looked tired and completely burned out. I sat down next to him on the couch.

"I know but I signed up for it, Ale and it's because I love you. Both of you." I placed my hand on his cheek. He leaned into my touch, oh I missed this. He was such a sweet boy but his job stressed him out.

"I never understood how you could love us."  He whispered solemnly.

"You don't have to understand." I said before kissing him on the forehead. It was late and we both needed sleep. I took it upon myself to get off the couch first before grabbing Alejandro's hand. I began to pull him up and he sluggishly followed me towards my room.

"Y/n I have to get back to base." He whispered trying to object. That might be true but I knew Alejandro and he needed to sleep. We both knew we slept the best when together so this was the best option.

"You can spend the night." I assured him. It was more like an order that I knew he would accept. Thankfully he gave up on trying to fight me and followed me into the bedroom.

He took his gear off and then his shirt before climbing into bed. I quickly threw on some pajamas before joining him. He wrapped his arm around me, his head found a spot in the crook of my neck.

"I'm sorry for yelling at you." He whispered.

"I'm sorry too."

"No, you were right. You were respecting our relationship, I was mad it wasn't in my favor." He was always the one to make amends in arguments. Alejandro was afraid of going on a mission while in the midst of a disagreement and having something bad happen to me. He could live with the regret, and for that he was a good man.

I couldn't lose him.

I just stayed in his arms until I slowly drifted to sleep.

The next morning I slowly woke up as I felt the bed shift. The sun wasn't even up but I knew Alejandro had to return to base for his mission. I could hear him clip on all his gear before he leaned over the bed to me.

"You need to stay safe for me. You are my family and your safety is all I want. I love you." He said before kissing me and leaving my house. Damn it, I need him to get out of this line of work. The same went for Valeria. I need them and if they ever got KIA I don't know what I would do with myself.
