Estrella Torrez-Rosa
2:54 am
Death-cast did not called Estrella Torrez-Rosa on July 17, 1999, because it still didn't exist. She was a bit past her 37th week of pregnancy, and had a scheduled C-section in one weeks. It was the method she was recommended to by her doctor, and she and her husband were alright with that.

She woke up a bit, feeling some strong cramps, which she assumed were normal at these final stages of pregnancy. Estrella got up from her bed, and decided to look for a bit of paracetamol to ready in case the pain intensified later.

"You feeling ok....?" her husband asked, noticing she was awake.

"Just some cramps," she assured, "Go back to sleep, I'll call you if I need any help,"

"Alright," he replied, closing what little of his eyes he had open.

Estrella walked into the restroom, holding the cup of water she had gotten for herself on the bedside table. She left it on the bathroom counter before looking for the medication in a cabinet, soon finding it. She took the recommended amount, given by her doctor, for when she felt stronger cramps.

10:48 am
Estrella woke up the next morning, feeling a bit better than she did during the night. She left her room, going to the kitchen, where she found some of her pregnant cravings available to her for breakfast. She and her husband had established a kind of routine, since he had to leave earlier for work. He would leave her a note and something ready for breakfast, plus lunch in the fridge, and would come back home by early evening. During the day, Estrella would do a bit of yoga, go for an occasional walk, have a friend over, take a nap, and watch some T.V.

6:45 pm
Estrella was beginning to feel a bit of the same discomfort from the night by the time her husband arrived. They ate some dinner together before he suggested a bath to see if that eased the pain. Baths seemed to help her feel calmer, no matter the situation, so they took one together with the sounds of music playing in the background, singing together to the words of "Come What May," a favorite of theirs.

By the end of it, Estrella felt something different, feeling something that wasn't water drip down her thigh. She realized, baby Mateo was coming a bit earlier than she expected. She told her husband, and they made sure to start heading to the hospital.

They quickly contacted their doctor on the way to the hospital, as contractions started increasing on the way there for Estrella. He alerted them that he would meet them there, and how to proceed when getting to the hospital before the call fell.

7:08 pm
They got to the hospital and quickly talked with the nurses, informing them of the situation, getting Estrella on a hospital bed. The doctor soon arrived, analyzing how Estrella and the baby were. Her contractions were getting more intense, she was beginning to feel a bit overwhelmed. Things weren't exactly going as she had planned.
"Mrs. Torrez, please try staying calm, everything will be okay," nurses tried to assure her. She screamed in pain, coming from the contractions.

The doctor attached an EFM (electronic fetal monitoring) to know what was going on with her and the baby, she was going into labor at a rapid pace. Mr. Torrez assured all the way through that everything would be alright to his wife, no matter what happened.

They continued this for a bit, until the doctor realized the baby was not receiving enough oxygen. He quickly referred them to the emergency c-section wing of the hospital, this needed to be quick. He needed Mrs. Torrez to take deep breaths as they made their way through the hospital. The anesthesia was sure to help her and the baby during this delivery. Mr. Torrez was not aloud inside the room where the surgery would take place.

"Just save Mateo, that's what matters," Estrella said desperately. The doctors rushed her inside, quickly having someone apply the regional anesthesia to do the c-section.

"She's loosing a lot of blood," a nurse warned.

"get...Mateo..out..." The mother muttered. The doctor knew the risk was high, but he was close to getting the baby into the world. His objective was to try and save both of them, no matter the cost.

The surgery took a while, but he managed to get the baby out, healthy. Now, he had to try and save the mother.

(769 words, this is intended to be a shorter chapter, just to illustrate a bit of how I imagine it might have been Mateo's birth :) Now I'm no doctor, but I tried writing in the best accuracy available that wouldn't be too descriptive for any sensible viewers <3 EDIT: I think I just forgot or didn't locate that that time what her name was! Pardon for the mishap, story fixed)
