Night Reading and School Mornings

I was careful to to keep quiet as I turned on my lamp that was placed on my bedside table. It took me a minute to get used to the sudden blare of light that emitted off the lamp. Once I did I leant down and picked up my book that I had placed that night. It was 2am and it was time for usual late night reading session. My whole family was asleep so I had to be careful enough to not to wake anyone up, otherwise I'd be in trouble. Once I was settled enough under the warm blankets, I started reading. Time sped by as I read and read and once I pulled my head away from the book to check the time and I realized it was 5am! Normally I only read for an hour and sometimes if the book is really good I read for 2 hours. But 5am was pushing it too far. I quickly slotted my bookmark into the book and placed it carefully down onto the carpeted floor. I took my reading glasses off before switching off my lamp and falling asleep. 

The next morning I woke up and checked the time. 7am. I forgot it was a school day as well, which meant i would be going off of 2 hours of sleep. 

"SCHOOL TIME!!!" my mother shouted from the kitchen. I groaned and got out of bed. I quickly slipped my school uniform on before walking down as I tied my hair up into a ponytail. 

"Amara! Hello, good morning! i made breakfast for you," my mother said kindly. As at least someone wasn't getting on my nerves today. After giving my mother a tired smiled and sitting down at the kitchen bench digging into the waffles my mother had made, I stood up and walked over to the dishwasher. 

"Once your done, could you go wake up nick for me please? I called earlier but he must've fallen back asleep." I gave my mother a nod and walked up to his room. 

"Nick, we have school in 10 minutes and your gonna be late if you don't get up now," I lied. It was the only way to convince him to wake up. he shot up in bed eyes wide.

"10 MINUTES!?" He shouted.

"Keep your voice down bro. And no of course not we still have another 45 minutes," I told him as I walked out the door. I told my mother I was going for a walk with my friend before we headed to school together while I slid my shoes on and picked up my school bag. She said goodbye before I walked out the door. Another day running on only a little bit of sleep.
