Today was the day. Jade, Jasmine, and I were driving to do the paternity test. Jasmine didn't know what we were doing; we just told her that I needed to go to a special doctor and that I wanted her to come with me.

I was afraid the result would be negative because, in the short time Jade and I had been dating, I had grown attached to Jasmine. If she was not my daughter and things didn't work out with Jade, she could cut me off from Jasmine's life.

We were in the waiting room, waiting for our names to be called, so they could collect our samples, and I was really anxious; I couldn't stop shaking my legs, and Jade noticed.

"Hey, it's gonna be ok. Why are you nervous?" She asked me calmly, while squeezing my tights, so I would stop shaking.

"What if it isn't me?" I said.

"Look, Pez" she said, turning to me, "I'm sure it's you, but I wanted to do this because I don't want you to wander in the future if I lied to you or if I got confused. Before you commit yourself to it, I want you to be a hundred percent sure."

"I understand, and I appreciate that, but you're wrong about one thing" I said, looking into her eyes.

"What?" she asked, confused.

"I'm already committed to it. To her and to you" I said, and we leaned in for a short kiss. Soon enough, we were called to do the test.

4 days later

Today I was going to find out if I was indeed Jasmine's mom. These past four days, my anxiety got really bad because of all the waiting, but Jade helped me power through it.

They sent me the results, and I was going to Jade's house, so we could open it together. If the result was positive, she told me she wanted to tell Jasmine today. I parked my car and took a deep breath before going to ring the doorbell.

"Hi, babe" Jade said as soon as she opened the door.

"Hi, baby" I replied, and we shared a kiss. When we pulled away, Jade squeezed my shoulder and said.

"It's going to be alright."

We sat down in the living room, and it was now the moment of truth. Jade was holding my hand, and when it looked at the results, it said the probability of paternity was 99.99%. I was over the moon; I couldn't be happier. I always dreamed of this, but never thought it would be possible. I didn't think I would find someone to love me as I am or that we would have such a smart, polite, and beautiful girl as Jasmine was.

We hugged tightly, and I started crying.

"I hope those are happy tears" Jade said, smiling at me; she also had glossy eyes.

"Very happy" I said with a small laugh, drying my eyes.

"I know the feeling," she said, and we stayed silent for a couple of seconds, just staring at each other.

"Do you think I'll be a good mom?" I asked shyly.

"I think you already are" Jade said, and I couldn't contain the giant smile on my face.

"I'm sorry I wasn't there for you from the beginning," I said as I caressed her cheeks.

"Don't worry, it's not your fault. Or better, yet it's both of our faults" she said suggestively and burst out laughing.

"I know, but I promise I'll always be here from now on" I said with sincerity.

"That's all I need" she said.

Jade then looked at her watch and said, "Well, now it's your first task as a mom. We're going to pick Jas up from school; maybe we can get her some ice cream and tell her. What do you think?"

"That would be great."

We were now outside Jasmine's school, waiting for her. The bell rang, and a swarm of children dashed towards the gates; my heart swelled with joy as I realized I was picking up MY child from school.

When Jasmine saw us, she took off running; at first, I thought she was running towards Jade, but when she yelled "Pezzy!" I realized she was running towards me. I picked her up and spun her around, causing her to giggle.

"So, how was school today, princess?" I asked.

"It was really cool; I made a new friend today." she replied.

"Oh, that's amazing! What is their name?" I said interested

"Aurora"

"Just like the princess?" I said, and she nodded. "So you both can be princesses together."

"Yes!" she exclaimed, excited. Our conversation was interrupted by Jade, who said it with a fake pout.

"You forgot about me now that you have Pezzy."

"Mommy!" she said, exited and jumped to Jade's lap

We got our ice cream and were now sitting in a secluded part of the park, where Jade and I met or re met each other. Jade looked at me as if to ask is I wanted to do it now, and I nodded.

"Jasmine baby, Pez and I need to talk to you, ok?" Jade spoke softly.

"Ok mommy. Am I in trouble?" she asked

"No, you didn't do anything wrong, baby." Jade paused and then continued, "So do you remember how I told you that every family can be different?"

"Yes, some families only have one parent; others can have a mommy and a dad, or two mommies or two daddies, and others can have no parent."

"That's right, my smart girl" Jade said as we both looked at her proudly.

"Before you were born, I met your other mommy, and she put you in my belly, but after that, we couldn't find each other again, and that's why you only had one mommy until now."

"Did you find her then?" Jasmine asked with hopeful eyes.

"I did. Wanna know her name?" Jade asked with a smile.

"Yes! Please mommy"

"It's Perrie" she said with a huge smile.

"Is Pezzy my mommy?"

"Yes, princess, I am" I said, with tears already beginning to fall.

"Yaaay! I love Pezzy" she said, jumping on me to hug me tight.

"I love you too, princess; you have no idea how much" I said. I looked at Jade and could see she was emotional. I smiled at her and mouthed, "thank you."

After our moment, we decided to have some fun, and we played with Jas at the park. We went home and had dinner together and a movie marathon before putting Jasmine to bed. I could definitely see myself having this life every single day.
