Jade's POV, December 25th

Our Christmas dinner yesterday was great, and I was really happy that Perrie blended right in with my family; they got along really well, especially her and my mom. This morning we exchanged presents, and Jasmine was over the moon with all the presents she got.

If everything went as planned, I had a surprise for Perrie today. My mom knew about it, so she was going to help me by distracting her and convincing her to let me go. It turns out she didn't need that much convincing, which I thought was a little weird but was better for me.

I told her that I would meet up with Holly, my childhood best friend, since I didn't have a chance to see her. It was partially true; I was going to see Holly, but not only because she was my friend; she also was a social worker who had access to documents that could help find Perrie's brother, and she did. She found him, and now we were going to see him, and if he wanted to meet Perrie, we would take him to her.

"Hi Jay," Holly greeted me.

"Hi Holly. "How are you?" I asked

"I'm doing great." she said as we got in her car.

"So, his name is Jonnie Carter now; he's 30 and lives alone," She paused. "His adoptive parents died two years ago, since they were already older when they adopted him. They were placed in foster care when Perrie was 7, and he was 9; he got adopted the same year, and as you know, Perrie was never adopted."

"Do you think he'll want to meet her?" I asked nervously.

"I think so. Most adoptees want to meet their biological family, especially in cases where they weren't placed in foster care because of some negative action from the family." Holly said.

We arrived at the place, and we were surprised to learn that he in fact lived there. We knocked on the door, and a guy with dark blonde hair, a beard, and blue eyes opened the door. His eyes were very similar to Perrie's, so I was sure it was him.

"Hi, I'm Holly, and this is Jade." "Are you Jonnie Carter?"

"Yeah, that's me." "What is this about?" He asked.

"It's about your sister, Perrie," I said, a little uncertainly. When I said that, his eyes widened.

"Come on in" he said, gesturing for us.

We all sat in the living room, and he brought tea for us.

"Did something happen to her?" he inquired, concerned.

"No, no. She's doing great; we just came to meet you to know if you would like to meet her. She and your cousin, Ellie, looked for you for a couple of years but couldn't find you. So I asked Holly's help, and we located you, but before telling her, I wanted to be sure that you would want to meet her, so she wouldn't have false hope, you know." I replied.

"Yes, I understand." That was very considerate of you; she must be lucky to have you." He said it with a smile. "I really do want to meet her; it was really shit not knowing how she was and if she was okay."

After a few seconds of silence, he said, "Do you have a picture of her?" "I wanna know what she looks like now."

I showed him my lock screen, which was me, Perrie, and Jasmine, and could see his eyes were a little glossy.

"You guys make a beautiful family," he said.

"Thank you," I replied.

"Well, if you're not busy right now, you can come with us." Holly said, looking at Jonnie.

"Okay, let me get ready." "I want to look good to see my sister for the first time in years," he said with a chuckle.

I called my mom and told her we were coming back; she told Perrie to wait in the backyard because I had a surprise for her. Now we were about to enter the backyard, and I saw Perrie seated at the little garden table.
