Chapter 4

Michael went through the various documents and notes littered around the table. The old magus didn't seem to give much thought to cleanliness it seems.

Speaking of the old guy, he was frozen in ice by Michael as he didn't want his body to decay and the room to be filed with stench.

"This guys really is crazy." Michael said as he looked at a few documents.

They were of the experiments the magus had done on previous humans. It looked like he kidnapped people who were first generation magus's and used them for his experiments. Arguably, almost all the magus with great numbers and quality of magic circuits belonged to magus aristocracy so he couldn't get them.

"No wonder this guy wanted me. If I didn't kill him he wouldn't hesitate to knock me out and use me for his experiments." Michael said with a shudder as he had dodged a bullet.

He then threw away the documents about the experiments as they had disgusted him. He then looked at the heart and searched for the file containing it's information. After looking around for a good few minutes he managed to identify the file containing the information about it heart.

"Let's see here, heart of a heroic spirit summoned during the first Holy Grail War. Huh, so he struck a deal with the other Master's of the Grail War and after they defeated the servant he took the heart. He must've given them something cause a magus wouldn't just help another without getting something back. Though, who's the servant." Michael said to himself as he went through the file.

He read through the file and it contained information about how the magus got the heart and the deals he did with the other magus but he finally reached the place with the information about the servant.

"The servant is Sasaki Kojirou Saber!" Michael said before he widened his eyes.

'The hell, they managed to defeat him. But he is said to be a swordsman who had reached the concept of infinity. How the hell did they defeat him!? Or rather, what kind of servant is capable of defeating a powerhouse like that!?' Michael thought to himself with wide eyes.

He looked at the file for more information but sadly there wasn't anything about the servants in it. He wondered why but didn't dwell on it. He looked at the beating heart and a thought came to his mind.

"Can I become like Sieg from Apocrypha?" Michael thought to himself as he looked at the heart.

He has seen the scene in the anime where Sieg gets Siegfried's heart and then gains his powers but he is still hesitant about it. So he searched through the files to know about the other candidates on whom he had done the experiments to know what their response was.

"Dammit, so he never did try to implant the heart in any of them. What do I do?" Michael said to himself with a frown.

He found out that the magus never did try to implant the heart in any of his test subjects for fear that it might not work. He was going through the files when he came across another file which has some information. He looked at the details in the file and his eyes widened when he saw it.

"No way, he, he managed to locate one of the body parts of the dragon Albion." Michael said shocked as he looked at the file.

He looked through the file and found that a part of the dragon is located in France at Nord Pas De Calais. From what is written in the file the limb of the dragon Albion is present deep within the earth under the mining fields of the region. The man also seemed to have done research about the area as well.

"Even though he is mad he has good information. I'll give him that." Michael said as he looked at the frozen body of the man.

From the report the coal mine was shut down a year ago due to the authorities taking at the coal in the mine. Due to this the mining area was shut off. It also seemed like the old magus wanted to go to the place and dig out the dragon's limb.

"Hmm, it looks like he wanted to do it after he manager to get his Demi servant. It looks like he didn't want to get any help from any other magus and wouldn't trust anyone. Then again, that is how the magus of this world are." Michael said to himself as he looked at the map attached to it.

He furrowed his eyebrows as he looked at the map and absorbed the information. It is quite detailed and shows the location of where the dragon's limb is supposedly buried. He looked at the information and then he remembered something else.

"Wait a minute. Didn't Vortigern from the  Arthurian legends drink the blood of Albion and became a dragon? And Artoria also has dragon blood which allowed her to be able to produce mana for herself. If, if I do it then maybe." Michael said to himself as he thought about it.

Of course, there are various risks but considering that he's in a world where many people wouldn't hesitate to kill, vampires, wraiths and magus etc and counting the existence of the servants and finally the Demon God pillars as well. He knew that he needed to be as strong as he can be to at least stand a chance.

"There are a lot of risks in it and I might even die from it. But the benefits it will give me is very good as well. If I'm able to get it then I will be able to fight servants as well." Michael said to himself before he looked at the beating heart.

He contemplated the choices and even the risks and knew that if he wishes to survive in a deadle world such as this he must get stronger. He gulped a bit salive and inhaled a long breath and let it out. Then he hesitantly he opened the top of the container – a paper on how to open the container was in the pile – and took out the beating heart in his hand.

He looked at the heart which is beating rhythmically in his hand and he couldn't help but gulp. He closed his eyes and started to take deep breaths as he steeled himself for what he is about to do. He opened his eyes and looked at the heart before he pushed it into his chest. The heart entered his chest as he watched it disappear inside him. For a few seconds nothing happened and he wondered if it was a failure, until.

"Gah!" He suddenly said as he staggered a bit backwards before kneeling on the ground as he clutched his chest.

He felt pain in his body as his magic circuits came to life and surrounded his body and they glowed as he fell on the ground. His heart was beating faster as he was having laboured breaths as he felt his body changing. There was some kind of energy going through him as he felt his body change. He clawed the ground as he felt pain throughout his body to withstand the pain.

After a minute the magic circuits shut off and Michael lay on the ground with half lidded eyes as his breath became normal. He stayed like that for a few minutes before he slowly got up and leaned on the table.

*Crack*

Except that a crack appeared on the table where he placed his hand as he whipped his head to look at it. He raised his and looked at it before he looked at himself. His eyes widened as his body seemed to have become more buff, not too buff but in a more lean fashion. He could feel that his muscles have become much stronger than before as he touched his body and sure enough they were more stronger.

"Did it work? Yes it worked, but how strong am I?" Michael asked himself as he looked at his hand.

He didn't know what kind of future this world has nor does he know what kind of dangers he will face here. But he will make sure that he is prepared to face them.
