Chapter 1

Black.

All I see is black. I can feel the warm sunlight on my face. I open my eyes just in time to hear my alarm clock go off. I got off my bed and fixed it. I hate waking up early in the morning, but I know I have to. It's the first day of my new school after all.

My family moved here in Boston because my dad got a promotion. It's great that he did, but I just miss my life back in Florida. All of my friends are there. We still keep in touch through video-calls and texts but it's different knowing that they're in another state.

I go to my bathroom and took a shower, enjoying the warm water run through my bare skin. I got off the shower and brushed my teeth. Entering my walk-in closet, I got my blue light-washed skinny jeans along with my black v-neck shirt. I decided to go with my pink neon vans. After changing, I blow dried my hair and afterwards, straightening it. The blond locks falling through my neck.

I usually don't wear make-up. I don't like layering my face with it. My mom buys me make-up but I rarely use them. I decided to put on face powder and black eyeliner on my lids, making my blue eyes pop. Not too much, just enough to make a good impression.

Looking into the mirror, I smiled at my reflection. I don't look dressy, but I sure don't look like I shopped at Grannies R Us. I grabbed my stuff and placed them in my bag.

"Scarlette! Breakfast is ready!" my mom yelled from downstairs.

"Coming mom!" I yelled back.

I start heading towards the kitchen, smelling the sweet scent of waffles. I take a seat near the counter. I smiled looking down at my plate. Chocolate Chip Waffles. Hmmm... my favorite. I smile at my mom while munching through the chocolate-filled goodness.

"Ashton honey, drive your sister to school after eating."

"Let her walk. That's what legs are for, you know." My annoying brother said walking onto the kitchen. I can see him smirk from here, and I just rolled my eyes.

Wow Ash, I can feel the love. Note the sarcasm.

Ashton graduated high school last year. He lived with our aunt here in Boston when he started high school, but he would still come home on holidays and breaks. Now that I'm a junior, I'm attending my brother's former school, Westfield High School.

I can tell my brother was one of those popular kids at school in his high school years. Hell, I even think in College too. I've seen his pictures at parties on his facebook profile. I don't go to parties that much. I've been to some before, but I'd rather spend my time reading a book or watching movies.

"Ashton, drive your sister to school, now!"

"Ughh. Really mom?!"

"Yes, or you could forget going to parties a month!" my mom threatened my brother with an evil smirk playing on her lips. Ha! Take that Ashton!

My brother lazily got up from the couch and said

"Come on, dork."

I stuck my tongue out to him heading towards his Range Rover.

Westfield High School, here I come.
