I styled my hair into a low bun with braids and took a deep breath before a single tear rolled down my cheek. I knew that Kai was going to come, yet I still had a seed of doubt that I might get married before he could make it here.
Time goes by so fast and I was worried I would soon have to walk down an isle and kiss my new husband. All because of my moronic father.
I sat on a small bench in front of my makeup desk and stared at my reflection blankly. Numbness took over every part of my body as I wanted to just give up. I couldn't bear sitting on the chair of a criminal. A man that treats women like shit just because we are women.
A loud knocking sound snapped me out of my thoughts and soon someone came in.
A girl in a maid outfit walked inside the room and behind her was Atlas. He had an evil smirk on his face, the type I wish I could punch right off. I actually did not think I could hate someone more than him. Even though I felt anger rise up, my facial expression did not change by one bit as I did not want to show he affected me.
"Hello, my name is Darcy and I'm here to do your hair and makeup for the wedding." She smiled humbly and bowed respectfully at me as she placed a tray of hair products and makeup on the bed. She was short and had a small beauty mark over her lip. She had a tight hair bun and she looked about my age. Her hair was a shade of dark brown that matched her eyes. I smiled sincerely at her and she sat on the bed after everything was in place. Atlas walked around me and just scoffed before slamming the door of my room on his way out.
"So Darcy, what exactly do you want to do with me?"
"Enhance that beautiful little face of yours of course!" She cheered with a country accent and stood up from the bed to take a look at my face.
"Dear lord you definitely need some care!" She said placing her index finger on my cheek and turning my head to the side with it to get a better view of my cheek.
"Your really, really damn lucky to have a man like him all over you ya know?!" She commented and I stayed quiet as she ran her mouth on about how great and how desired Atlas actually was. At some point I got sick of it and slammed my fist against the makeup desk.
"If you want him so damn much then why don't you have him? I hate him and he is a psychopath. He is the son of a mafia boss, he kills people for a living."
When I said that she finally got quiet and applied the makeup over my face without a word. Finally some peace. I stared into my crystal clear eyes. They looked just as empty as I felt. The maid undid my braid bun and made it into a small simple braid with some white sparkles on it. Darcy then took a red velvet box from the basket that had all the makeup and accessories and took out a pair of earrings out of it. The earrings had white gems around one big emerald that was in the center of all the white ones. They gems where shaped like circles and the whole earring it self was a circle. The light of day made the earrings shine so bright that you could probably see it from a mile away. The emerald matched my black hair and green eyes so well, it gave contrast to the look. After placing the earrings she went back to the box of makeup and grabbed two more velvet boxes, one was bigger than the other. She opened the bigger box and placed both of them on the makeup desk, exposing a diamond encrusted rectangular necklace with an emerald in the center just like the earrings, except this one was rectangular. I took the necklace and snapped it onto my neck. I soon opened the third box only to see a small silver bangle bracelet that had one small emerald on the middle, it was a whole emerald set. When I had finished putting it on she continued to apply all the makeup onto my face. "Darlin, I fear you cannot wear that military tag for your wedding! You will need to take it off."
"No way I never take it off!"
"You will have to, just for the wedding. Then you can put it back on. Atlas won't like that."
"I don't give the least of a shit of Atlas likes it or not I don't need his fucking approval!" I slammed my fist on the desk.
"Well he might take it away from you if he sees that necklace. Why don't you but it in your pocket today and put it on later?" She said calmly.
I felt my anger rise again so I took deep breaths.
"Okay I will take it off, but it will stay with me at all times." I scoffed angrily even though it wasn't her fault. All this was so fake and pathetic, I felt so plastic, it was all so unlike me. When she was finally done applying everything after about 30 minutes I stood up and looked at my self in the mirror. I was a completely different person. I wasn't even recognisable. My lips where plump red and my skin was soft and pale. I turned around to look at Darcy and she smiled sweetly.
"That's a work of art that you did!" I laughed even though I did not feel like laughing.
"Well thank you! Clock is ticking we must have lunch." She said happily.
We both walked down the marble stairs, my heels made loud noises wich echoed around the corridors. Half way through the stairs and I accidentally tripped. I felt a last impulse of thoughts come into my head before tumbling down the stairs. Luckily I did not get a concussion, but I still had blood scattered across my forehead. Darcy ran over to me and helped me up.
"Are you okay?!" She questioned worriedly as she took me back to my room. She washed the blood off my forehead and reapplied my makeup. There was a small cut left on my head, but it was barely visible due to the layers of makeup covering it.
"Oh god if he sees that he will literally murder me! I was supposed to make you look perfect, I had one job and I failed it!" She covered her face and sobbed.
"Hey, it's okay I won't let him do anything to you!" I attempted to comfort her with my untrue words and it clearly did not work as she started to sob louder.
"Please calm down otherwise he will hear us!" I rubbed her back and when she stopped we walked down to the lunch table again. There were grapes raspberries and all the fruits you could imagine spread out through the table. There was even caviar on tray of special spreads.
"Wow!" I muttered to my self.
Darcy took a seat on the other side of the long table and started to fill her plate. I sat down and grabbed a few kiwis with bread. I did not feel life eating anything even though I knew I needed to. I hadn't eaten anything in a days.
After we where done eating I went for a walk in the garden. I had to be walking down a wedding isle in thirty minutes. I had the whole beautiful garden all to my self and Atlas was no where to be seen. I couldn't wait for Kai to show up he was my only hope. I picked a daisy and placed it on my hair. Suddenly I remembered to take my thigh strap that Kai gave me to protect my self. I ran back to my room and grabbed the strap with the knife inside. I wrapped it around my thigh and headed to the church, I just knew one thing... the end was near.
The church building was built next to the mansion, I was assuming it was private and made only for their family. My beautiful white sparkly dress was dragged on the floor with every step I took. Soon I was standing in front of the church doors. I closed my eyes and slowly pushed the heavy doors when the clock read two thirty. The bell over the church building started ringing and I knew it was my signal. I walked down the isle with tears, I held my bouquet of white roses trusting Kai would come, but hope was leaving me and it was the last thing I had. I could easily kill Atlas, but I still don't want to ruin whatever Kai wants to do.
The church was decorated with white flowers everywhere. The vicar was holding a small pillow that had two rings on it. They where both plain gold. I stood in front of him and looked at his disgusting face. The smirk made me want to kill him even more. "You may say your vows" The vicar said.
"I promise to take care of you and be your partner through the good and bad times, thick and thin." He mocked and grabbed my hand roughly. He placed the ring and demanded me to say my vows next.
"I vow to never ever love you and to never be a good partner." I yelled and my voice bounced off the church walls. "I pronounce you as husband and-"
"No you don't!" The doors of the church burst open and there he was, Kai. He was standing at the entrance holding a gun and aiming it at Atlas. The vicar ran behind a bench and hid as Kai walked in with a triumphant expression: "No one is getting married today!" He yelled.
The vicar trembled with fear of what was happening, he looked so clueless.
"If I die she dies!" Atlas aimed a pistol at my head as he held an arm around my neck bringing me next to him. He was nearly strangling me. He laughed like a psycho as Kai stood still thinking of what to do next.
I slowly reached into the crack of my dress as discreetly as possible and pulled out my emergency knife. I then passed it to my other hand and stabbed Atlas as I struggled to free my self. BANG! I heard Atlas's gun fire. The gunshot did not hit me, but when I looked back at Kai he was on the floor at the same time as Atlas due to the stab.
Atlas was laughing on the floor as the blood drained out of his body. I kicked his face once he was on the ground and ran over to Kai.
"Kai are you okay?" Hope was leaving me and I didn't know what to do anymore. I didn't care about anything other than if Kai was okay. As I sobbed on the ground holding Kai's wound I realised the vicar was trying to escape the church. I ran over to him before he could leave and pinned him to the wall. "Stay here!" I took his phone and pushed him away from the door. He winced and ran to the corner of the church.
Whimpering bitch.
I looked at the shot Kai had and realised it was only on the edge of his waist not harming any organs, so he wasn't going to die or anything. "I'm okay Mariana." He sat up trying to show me that he was fine. I told him to stay there and I grabbed my knife that was still on Atlas's body. His blood was scattered everywhere and his body seemed to have no life anymore. I was so glad he got what he deserved. I slid the knife back inside my thigh pouch and ran back towards Kai wich was standing by the entrance of the church. I wrapped my arm around his big strong one and we walked out. I locked the door of the church so that the vicar wouldn't escape.
I took Kai back to the mansion and told him to lay on the couch. My white dress was filled with blood and so was Kai's torso. I hated having someone else's blood on my clothes. Especially blood of the man I was about to marry. I never imagined I would kill someone or get involved with things like this. It was all so unreal. I ran up to the bathroom and grabbed bandages, alcohol, and some tweezers. When I got back down Kai had his eyes shut and was taking deep controlled breaths.
I sat next to him on the couch and unbuttoned his shirt just to reveal his tattooed chest. He had some really nice skull tattoos covering a part of his shoulder and a bit of his neck. His hands where also a bit tattooed with some that weren't there before. It looked so good on him. He looked at me with an admiring look as I took it off. When I took it fully off I caught my self staring too much again. Stop it bitch, focus! I focused on the bullet that was still inside of him and grabbed the tweezers.
"Okay Kai this might be a tiny bit painful."
He just nodded reassuringly and I went in with the tweezers. His fists clenched and so did his jaw, but he did not make a sound. When the bullet was out he let a breath he had been holding out. I sprayed some alcohol on it before wrapping the bandage around his torso and tying a final knot. His muscles where tensed and hard through the whole process. There where gaps from between the bandage and his defined torso. When I was done cleaning all of it up he stood up and looked at me and I just couldn't read what he was thinking, that bothered me so much. "What are you thinking Kai?" I spoke my thoughts.
"About how pretty you are, even after killing someone." He picked me up placing an arm under my legs and another one under my back.
"Kai be careful you are hurt!" He laughed at my comment and took me up stairs. He took me to a huge room that looked like an extra bedroom, but for men. There where men's clothes and a king sized bed. I just couldn't recognise who this room belonged to. It was definitely not Atlas's, but also not Kai's. Oh it must be Brontwarn's! He slammed the door with the small push of his foot and took me to the bathroom that was inside the room. Almost everything inside of it was made of glass. The sink was a metallic one and the floors where made of some type of back stone. Kai placed me on my feet again and he went to grab a razor accompanied with shaving cream. He stood in front of the mirror and commenced to shave his face.
I looked at my bloody dress and decided to grab a change of clothes. I picked out a jersey and some male shorts that I found in the closet. There was no underwear or anything so I decided to keep the bra I had and reuse it again. I walked in the bathroom again, but this time holding the set of clothes I was about to put on. I placed the clothes over the black toilet seat and stared to slowly unzip my dress as I faced the shower. It fell to the ground and I walked in the shower I saw with the corner of my eye that Kai had stopped shaving and was looking at my reflection on the mirror. I then fully turned around to face him and he was standing at the door of the shower, leaning against the glass. "Why don't you just continue shaving?"
"Because maybe I don't want to." He walked in and he was now only wearing boxers. He came really close to my face, so close that I could feel the warmth of his breath on my face. He smiled and pulled my face right up to his with his finger. I slightly tilted my head allowing our lips to finally lock together. He slightly parted his soft cushion like lips and my tongue slid inside. It was all so slow, but fast. I wanted to stay like that forever. I placed an arm on his shoulder and put my hand behind his head allowing my fingers to massage his head from behind. I felt his big arms wrap around my waist before he leaned against the wall as he held me. Our foreheads crashed together under the water of the shower. I looked down and saw all the blood going down into the drain. I felt so free and light. I grabbed a sponge and gently rubbed it on his shoulders and throughout his chest and torso, then on his arms and from there until his feet. He did not speak a word throughout all of this. When I was finally done scrubbing I gave him a chance to do it to me and he did the same thing. I stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around myself. I was shivering cold. There was vapour from the shower spreading around when I opened the door. I slipped the jersey and men's shorts on and right after I was done Kai stepped out of the shower leaving a trail of water everywhere, drops of water streamed down his muscular body. It was dripping off the tips of his black messy hair so he grabbed a bath towel and dried his hair. He used the same towel to dry his torso as well and when he was done he walked out of the bathroom and I followed.
