Meeting The Friends

Grace Pov

I'm at Matts house in his bathroom getting ready for the cookout he planned where I am meeting his closest friends. "Babe I'm home, where are you?" Matt yelled from downstairs. "I'm up here," I yell back. Before I knew it he was coming up behind me wrapping his arms around my waist. "I figured you would be done getting ready by now," he says looking at me through the mirror. "I was almost done, but I didn't like the way my makeup turned out so I started over" he just shakes his head "what? I want to look my best when I meet your friends."

Although I could be quite the chatter box meeting new people brings out my shyness as well as my nerves, and me feeling like I look my best helps ease me some. "You always look good Grace, my friends are going to love you trust me." I just smile at Matt as he turns on the shower, "while I'm thinking about it did you get the rest of the food done?" he asks while taking off some of his clothes. "I did everything is done but a few of the desserts which wont take long," he walks over to me an gives me a kiss on the cheek "Your the best love you." I smile at him "love you too."

About thirty minutes later I'm in the kitchen working on the desserts while dancing to the music I had put on in the background when I hear the doorbell "Matt, will you get the door please." Not thinking I go back to dancing and since my back was facing the kitchen door, I didn't see Matt walk in with someone else that's when I hear someone clear their throat. I jump and turn around being met with Matt and another guy. "Babe this is Chris, we have been friends since we were kids." "Hi, I'm Grace it's nice to meet you," I say looking at Chris trying not to let my nerves get to me.

"It's nice to meet you Grace, feels good to finally put a face to the name," he says while smiling at me. I smile back and look at Matt "have you got the grill going?" "I have, come on Chris you can help me while we catch up since you have been so busy with work." Chris agrees and goes to follow Matt when he turns to look at me which makes me look at him "guess I will talk to you later then?" He asks and I just shake my head yes. I get back to finishing up the desserts and once I'm done I go back to Matts room to clean myself up.

Chris Pov

Me an Matt leave Grace in the kitchen while we both go outside. "So Chris, what do you think about Grace?" Matt asks me once I sit down in one of the chairs by the grill. "Well, I haven't been able to talk to her much, but from what you have told me, and from the small interaction I had with her in the kitchen she seems pretty cool." "I guess that seems like a fair enough answer, how is work going?" I just shrug my shoulders "keeping me busy if you can't tell, I'm glad that I was able to make some free time so that I could come hang out."

"That's what you get for being a lawyer, I told you it was going to be a crazy job," Matt says while flipping the hamburgers. I laugh a little "yeah you did, but I love my job so I'm not going to complain about it too much," I say while grabbing a beer. Me an Matt look up when we hear the back door open, "hey Matt some more of your friends are here" Grace says. I see Brandon, Katy, and Elizabeth walk out the back door so I get up to go talk and catch up since I haven't seen any of them in what seems like forever. A few minutes go by of everyone talking when I look around and notice Grace didn't stay outside, so I excuse myself and walk back inside.

Grace Pov

I'm upstairs when I hear the doorbell go off and knowing that Matt is outside, he wont be able to hear it so I go downstairs to open the door. Once I open the door I see three people standing there, "hey you must be Grace, I'm Katy this is Elizabeth, and that's Brandon." An just like that my nerves and shyness kicks back into high gear, I clear my throat "um hi Matt is out back with Chris would y'all like me to walk you back there?" "Sounds good Grace lead the way," Elizabeth says. As I walk them to the back I try to calm my nerves "hey Matt, some more of your friends just showed up" which I move out the way to let them walk outside.
